I know from reading posts on here that the liver is not supposed to feel pain, however I woke up with an aching sensation in the area of my liver, has anyone else felt this. I'm currently waiting for results of a blood tests for a suspected PBC/AIH overlap and whether or not I will be having a liver biopsy. Thanks for reading x
'Liver Ache': I know from reading posts... - British Liver Trust
'Liver Ache'
I believe this is quite common, I know I get the same ache on and off.
It's worth considering that whilst you're waiting for test results etc you're going to be very aware of that area.
Hi, I understand what you mean. My pain is cramp where the liver is situated and it stops me dead in my tracks. Hepatologist not concerned, but I am. I suffer with cirhossis, quite advanced and other liver issues but the pain is quite unbearable.
Good luck
Jules x
It is not from your actual liver that you get the pain. There is a capsule around you liver which is full f nerves, and that is probably where the pain is omng from, especially if your liver is inflammed . Or the other source could be the liver pressing against other organs , etc.
I also have this.... quite painful and the bulk of the time. its got much worse as it's most of the time now.
consultants said it was common at this point and lots of people have it. cazer. x
Thanks to all for your interesting and informative replies. They are all very helpful. Much appreciated, thanks
One doc will tell me it is liver pains another says liver doesn't cause pain myself I think it's the portal hypertension (pressure on the main artery that goes through your liver) but that's just my thought
