Hi Catfishjumping, is it an indwelling drain for ascites?? If so, my dad had one fitted. He said it was a painful procedure but once fitted it was comfortable. There were other issues with it tho but I will wait for you to confirm what your drain is before discussing further. With love xx
Hey Catfish what you are talking about is an Aspira catheter. Aspira being the manufacturers name. I have been told that it's a bit uncomfortable getting one fitted, however once fitted it is much more preferable to repeated pleural and abdominal drainage. The fitting involves making a small cut on your side or abdomen depending on placement ie: your needs.Once fitted you simply attach a drainage bag and squeeze a hand pump on the bag which drains the fluid from yourself.
