Did the first test rule out cirrhosis? I.e. was it a biopsy or a fibroscan?

What type of scan was it .. I have heard that if you have been a heavy drinker and stop you can still get Cirrosis . Not totally sure but I know of a few friends that it happend to , boy saying that you have it . Maybe you need to see your dr again . Best wishes

After having an ultrasound in November l have been diagnosed with a fatty liver but stoped drinking nearly 20 years ago. This could be due to my weight or by my finding out l also have Hepatitis C. From what I've read l will have to have a fibroscan to determine if my liver is affected by cirrhosis as it can be beneath the fatty areas of the liver and ultrasound cannot detect it. Am awaiting my first consultation with hospital Liver dept .. the best thing you did was give up drinking and from what I've read on here cirrhosis can be managed with a healthy lifestyle.. good luck with your diagnosis 😊
