He may never get jaundice..I didnt..not much anyway. My eyes were slightly yellow once or twice.

Yes, alcohol is the great equalizer. Is he sober? I was sober over three years before my liver started breaking down. I've had one transplant, and will be getting another. I have hepatic enchalopothy also now, since the new liver. They call it wet brain if your still drinking.

I hope your brother gets help and gets better. I have 8 years sober, and in spite of my liver disease I am a happy person. My life is so blessed! I'm so grateful to be alive and have wonderful relationships with my adult children, and with all of my sisters!

Xoxoxo

Cheering you on!

So sorry to hear this. My dad did not get jaundice until "the end" id say last 2 weeks when his kidneys failed. And first it was skin then his eyes the last week. Like Lyn said we are here for you.

Lost my dad in August due to hepatic encephalopathy caused by decomponsated cirrohsis he never got jaundice. Its horrible, what i seen for that few months and on that day it will never leave me. The liver trust page helped me to talk to others that are or have went through similar experiences. So feel free to ask questions and talk because its helps to know your not alone. It definately helped me to understand alot of the things that was happening at that time. I hope you and your brother gets all the help yous need. I have been were you and many of the people on here are at the miniute and its horrific. Thinking of yous x

I feel the same way you do. It is horrible and what I saw for the mos leading up until my dads passing (October) will never leave me either. I don't think people know how truly awful it can be. So sorry for your loss.

Hi, I'm a little confused by the "waiting on jaundice" line as well. I was hospitalized, jaundice, kidneys, liver, heart...almost complete organ shut down. They told me to call my lawyer who actually came to the hospital. 8 months later I'm alive and well and getting better every day. If you are alive, you can heal but it takes a bit of work so I'm hoping your brother has stopped drinking. I lost my brother. They called us and said to visit bc he had two weeks but he only lasted 2 days. Don't wait on jaundice, start him heading in the opposite direction!! xo
