Hi Everyone, Has anyone had one of these?

E.R.C.P

I'm having to have this done before they can remove my Gallbladder.

Just a bit worried about having this done tomorrow. Also wondering how long it takes?.

Hi,

I have had Gallbladder problems for well over a year now, been taken into A&E 3 times this year then to hospital

Was told would be having keyhole surgery to remove gallbladder, but they now tell me the bile duct is very blocked and my liver is enlarged, And I have this ercp to take away these gallstones to free up the duct. Please explaine what the MRCP is.

Kind regards J

I am a Registered Nurse and worked in Endoscopy for 6 months where I assisted with ERCP's. I cannot speak to after the procedure but during the procedure you are very sedated. This was many years ago but I'm sure that if anything sedation procedures are improved. It's almost like when you go in for a colonoscopy. They put you to sleep and the next thing you know your waking up ready to go home.

Thank you ,

You are so right, I had my ERCP 6days ago and as you say you really do not know anything about this treatment, I had a gallstone removed that was stuck in my bile duct, and aslo got Jaundice, I really can not praise the Dr and Nurses at Carisle Hos' Cumbria enough they really did look after me so well. IF I do have to have the same op again I will certainly not worry. So Thank you again. ☺

I had an e r c. P and felt everything it was pure agony.the sedation did not work for me. I saw and heard and felt everything. The e r c p did not work either I would not write this beforehand as I would not want to scare you.an e r c p is a procedure to remove the stone from the bile duct.my stone was huge 3 cm and also calcified. They found out I had Mirizzis syndrome and my bile duct was hugely destroyed by the stone. I had to have a 5 hour operation.and also have the removal of the stent they put in during e r c p and also had my bile duct reconstructed.that was two weeks ago I'm still lying in bed recovering and on strong painkillers.i don't know what the next steps for me are as iv to see the surgeon in 6 weeks.i had my gallbladder removed also but this could all happen again as the gallstones are made in the liver not the gallbladder.i do hope everything went well for you. I wish I could fond someone else with Mirizzis syndrome but it's so rare it would be nice to have someone to share experience with

I also got pancreatitis after the e r c p which was also very painful. It's one of the complications

Hi Grace

Have just read your reply, I'm so Sorry you had a very bad time and a awful ercp treatment,But I must say I didn't know or feel anything while having my treatment, but am so glad it's now over!, it has been just over week since I had the 2cm stone removed from my bile duct, but still don't feel like my old self just yet, still feeling very tired and food doesn't taste the same, but I also have coeliac which doesn't help.

But poor you😯 you have really been through it, have't you 😕Your having a terrible time I'm so sorry.

I've never heard of Mirizzis syndrome could you please explaine what it is?.

Sending you warm wishes and to be pain free very soon, stay strong Grace, take care.🙌

im not really sure myself what it is i had to look it up on google i know that 1/4 of my liver is now atrophied and grossly fibrotic and that i had to have the bile duct reconstructed. its very hard to understand what im reading about mirizzis;s syndrome but i googled it and then went onto videos and watched part of the actual operation i had. they seem to change something over that wasnt like that before. oh if you google it you will see how hard it is to understand seemingly its very rare.im always getting rare illness;s i had cryoglobulinemia as well and that is very rare but it was a secondary illness to hep c and now that i'v cleared the hep c the cryoglobulinemia has gone. i'v also had hep b 44 years ago. im feeling quite rough and i had a huge cut to do the operation its across my chest and downd the right side. i feel it hard to walk as im getting burning pains i think its the nerves knitting together.im waking up with siatica and i cant go out the house as im four flights up.i have my X boyfriend looking after me and doing the shopping me stays in the spare room. im feeling very depressed at the moment im finding it hard to accept things as they are, i always wanted to be a very special person lol but not have special rare illness's its funny how we get what we want but not the way we want it. thanks so much for your kind words and i hope you feel better soon also. you see my stone did not come out with the ecrp as it was so calcified. have you had your gall bladder removed yet. thanks again for lovely words. love grace.xoxoxo

Hi Grace thanks for your reply, yes I will google this it sounds terrible poor you,it must be very hard for you with everything and to be living on a forth floor makes things even harder, glad to hear your ex boyfriend is still there for you,he must be a nice person, as a lot of people would ran a mile. And yes I totally understand you feeling depressed I would think anyone would with even half what you are going through, you say you wanted to be a Special person, but you Are

Grace 😇 unfortunately you have been dealt a very very hard life,

But please try and stay strong I know that is easier said than done.

In answer to your question No I haven't had my gallbladder out have been adviced by my GP to leave things as there are at the moment, so that's what Im hoping I will be able to do.

Take care Grace.🙌 x
