Each PBC consultant seems to have their own recommendations. It depends on things such as whether your liver is damaged by the PBC, if your blood clots ok, if there are contraindications to other meds you may be on. Try asking your pharmacist first or if not contact your consultant to check. In the meantime, have you contacted your GP to diagnose the cause of the pain you want the pain relief for?

You got it in one Bolly - contra-indications!

The number of meds my docs ( LevoThyroxin, then Metformine, but last year antidepressants - for anxiety! Given later when I started asking Q's ) and endo (propranolol - shouldnt be taken with Thyroxin) which is why I decided I would do my own liver detox, via no meds except Levo, my blood cell count has slowly stabilised over last 12 months, and specific test results marked for attention have reduced, as although occasionally they would be up or down i think they mY also be stabilising.

There is a good website labtestresults.com, where its possible to research conditions or specific tests. Like ALAT ASAT etc., and others, to see what should be the norms. I have to look at english results based on Acronyms given on bere, and also check the French ones, go back to english to make sure I am looking at french equivalent if same thing, its a slow painstaking task, but worth it. Just wish i had my pc back so i could print, but having to make do with ipad air currently. My printer is not a wifi one!

I had a headache the other week, first for years, so almost took a pill, equivalent of Paracetamol, and no shouldn't be Taken, if you have liver probs! i had a glass if water instead, then went to bed and the ache gradually subsided.

Myopinion only, but i think Pharma sales reps and MD's have a lot to answer for, use this med or that for such and such conditions! Do drs read about the contras if their patient has more than one condition? In my case it's definitely a no!

Also from reading so many posts on here, plus Thyroid UK and Headway, all are HU groups, I am gaining so much knowledge/information about conditions and medications that have Affected not only me, but countless others, that it gives me more faith in laboratory technicians, scientific research and us, the patients, than it does in surgery or hospital Doctors who dont appear to analsye very much. As someone else wrote here, and as my thyroid consult said to me herself 5/6 weeks ago, they only consider their own speciality.

My own analysis of information supplied, will continue!

There is also a PBC forum here on HU and a lot of them have mentioned their Drs advising them they can take paracetamol or Acetaminophen depending on where your from.
