Sorry to hear this I know what you are going through been there myself with my husband.

Have they found out why?

Are they HCC tumours?

Is he attending a transplant unit?

My husbands was due to alpha 1 anti trypsin deficiency. He had a transplant but only then did they find his tumours.

If found earlier he wouldn't have got one. But I do know that you can have either one large tumour or 1 or 2 smaller ones to be eligible for a transplant, that is why I am asking if you have been seen in a transplant unit.

What part of the country do you live in?

Good Luck

The hospital I'm at is using SIRT treatment for HCC.

Dear Carmik.

Sorry I had not written before. I would like to thank you so much for sending me a reply. It makes you feel that you are not alone in this world with these problems. They do not say why he has got this, it could be many reasons. He had originally had a blood test done to see if he had prostrate cancer, which he didn't. From there they knew he had something wrong, so they gave him a scan and more tests. They then came back with the news that he had cirrhosis and 4 tumours. They did chemo-embolization and managed to get rid of 3 small tumours. Since having this chemo treatment he still has the large tumour and two more small ones have come back. I must add that his age is now 72 years. Our youngest daughter has offered to be a live doner, but we have been told that the transplant team will not attempt this because of his age. Thank you once again for writing x sunshine17

Hi Mama 41.

I have to say that SIRT Has never been mentioned at our hospital. They are keeping my husband under their care with blood tests now. When we see the consultant I will mention SIRT and see what she comes up with. It seems things are against him because of his age, even though he has been a very fit person up till now. By the way we do live in Spain. Our daughter did say that she wanted to become a live doner, but we were told the transplant team would not go ahead with this because of his age. Thank you so much for writing to me.
