Triple 7's

Good morning VRB's thank you for being here. This morning I ran through my list of things I want to do today. They read like this.

Run.

Wash Car. I've borrowed my daughter while she is away so least I can do is wash it.

Finish painting kitchen ceiling.

Go buy plants, garden looks a bit bare now I've dug all the weeds out.

Choose colour for kitchen walls, who knew how hard that would be when it's only me to please?

So I better go for a run then. Where to go?

Which run to run?

I'm realising life is just a series of choices.

Look at the HM plan, I did the hill repeats the other day but it doesn't show. I did the recovery run yesterday, it has to be triple 7's.

I took the car keys because I might go to the park, or the seafront, or even the Downs, so many choices, so I shove them in my pocket and keep walking, Jess Glynn singing to me, NRC set off and Garmin started.

Slow jog down the road, turn right and right again, that's the warm up done, now for 7 minutes at 5k pace. I find I can stretch out a little, glance at my watch and see I'm doing ok. Recovery section I keep running but slow right down, off we go again, another 7 minutes at 5k pace/effort. I repeated this once more and carried on, slowing down to a really gentle jog home.

What did I think? I enjoyed this but thought the time checks came too often, knowing I had 6 minutes to go wasn't helpful but it was ok. I didn't put huge effort into this run as I've increased distance lately.

As this was on effort I think I'd like to do it again in a month and see if I'm improving.

Interestingly my heartrate is reducing, on runs, on walks, overall. I had my first Garmin in January 2020 so can look back at high and average heartrate year on year since then and each year it's slightly lower than the year before.

Run happy 😁 celebrate that you can.

Happy Solstice .

I didn't stop to take photos today so here's another from up high.

Happy solstice to you too-it certainly sounds like you made the most of it! I’ve skipped that run but might come back to it-it’s great to be warned about the frequent time checks. I know I’ll be the same as you-six minutes to go when you’re at a 7/10 pace is tough mentally!! You ran the perfect version of this run for what you needed today.

It’s great you’re seeing the benefits of this program, what with the fast km the other day and a lower heart rate today. That must be a great spur to keep going.

Have a wonderful rest of your day ❤️

I reckon you could get a good stretching routine done while car washing!! Maybe even squeeze in a bit of shower time too!! Perfect post run cool down…😂😂😂

Cars washed, inside and out, the downside of muddy dog, it won't stay like that long, well stretched out, shower and shop, or maybe just read for a while

Well done, Sola! That’s always a good run to do. You have a busy day!

I'm filling work hours otherwise I'd read all day and do nothing

Jools2020 profile image

And that wouldn’t matter at all once in a while, although I can understand the need to keep busy.

I read all day Saturday, I kind of lost my purpose when I retired and suddenly found myself on my own, but the days pass, I'm running more and slowly turning this place into mine rather than ours, but choosing colours is really difficult 😁

I understand that need to make the place “mine not ours “ - it helps a lot. All the best with it

Well done on fitting in a run on your “To Do” list. You’re so busy, I don’t know where you find the energy! Seeing the benefits for all your efforts through Garmin stats is a real bonus 😁

Interesting to hear your thoughts about the time checks - I’ll get to that run at some point when I pick up the HM plan again.

You’re making great progress on the plan!😁

Thanks, well I've run and cleaned the car so far, next is shower and get out of running clothes 😃being retired means I have a lot of hours to fill and I read a lot too

It is certainly a difficult time for you Sola and yes we are here 😊. A productive day and another run under your belt, treat yourself to that read x

Sounds a good run for you. Plenty of time to decorate. Keep for a rainy day. We know what it’s like picking colours for paint, we had a shop full of it and customers would take ages.

Easier when the other person has set ideas though, I hadn't realised how I went along with things but I'm getting there

Thank you, I think if I hadn't run so much this week I'd have put in a little more effort, I will do it again though

Happy Solstice... Blessed be !

Wow... at least three lots of strength and stamina work to look forward to! Car washing. Tick.. Ceiling painting -Tick. Buying and lifting out plants- Tick.

But.. first a super run, where you are seeing the benefits of the programme!

Huge well done you... and on choosing the paint you wanted:) x

SueAppleRunGraduate1060minGraduate in reply to Oldfloss

Car washed tick, car collected tick, that meant a walk, plants bought tick, plants planted tick, ceiling can wait, I might paint later but I'm covered in soil and need a soak in the bath, I'm still in my running clothes which isn't that comfortable, the run had to come first otherwise I wouldn't have done any of it 😁Paint chosen, thank you 😀 xx

I just looked out the window and saw a plant I hadn't planted, so more digging more planting, I'm late with gardening for many reasons but my little patch is beginning to look good xx

Very well done you... I am so late too... I had to get up early before we came to Wales last Friday, to get stuff in big pots or in the ground! We are getting our workouts aren't we :)

Last time we (and it's a we, not a me) had a choice like that, we narrowed it down to a colour, then I bought 3 or 4 testers and painted a chunk in each. Then we changed our mind and went for a totally different colour! 😂 Happy running! (And painting!)

Yes but that's the whole point isn't it? Willow always knew what colour he wanted
