I know I bought 2 pairs of running shoes quite recently, so its probably hard to justify, but I couldn't resist these in the sale.
With my clumpy feet, I had to send the first pair back and reorder in wide fit. They mucked the exchange up and gave me an extra discount by way of recompense so they're extra bargainous, if there is such a word!
I've never run in Hokas before so I've no idea whether I will get on with them. And I know Hokas are the marmite shoes of the running world, but I am a marmite baby so 🤞
Worst case scenario there is always the 30 day guarantee.
Now I just need the ice to thaw so I can try them out

Looking good... are you wearing them around the house until, you can get out.. Maybe do a Lesley Sansone Indoor walking, whist stuck in doors.. there are some great pacey ones... may give you a chance to wear them in! I'm looking out on the white wintry frozen world and really longing for Spring!
Ha ha! Yes that would definitely wear the shoes in! But this just reaffirmed my dislike of group exercise classes. I'd rather get on the exercise bike if I couldn't get out for a period of time, but that wouldn't help with the shoes would it?
What a choice! They get the thumbs up from me 👍 I switched from Brooks to Hoka a couple of years ago and do like their range. Hoping that they work out for you Birdlady64 because you get out there in all sorts of weather. My particular favourites are the ATR range and the Mach range 😊
I know how you love your Hokas GTFC But, having worn them round the house today, I think these may well be going back. The toe box is roomy enough and I love the fit around the heel but even with wide fit they're tight across the mid foot.
I love my pair of Hoka Speedgoat gtx they are definitely my go to my winter shoe choice. A couple of weeks ago I ran in my Brooks Cascadias and I could feel the difference in the traction. The Hokas almost feel like they suction on to muddy paths.Good luck I'll be interested to see how you get on with them.
Yes there are patches of very soft mud across the bridleway I often run on. The place I notice their grippiness most is on a short steep path leading off the bridleway it's really slippery. I've walked the section 30 minutes later in walking boots with my dog and I often slip more than I did earlier in my Speedgoat. The only downside for me is that I can't wear them when it gets warmer as they make my feet too hot. I bought an be ordinary pair (not gtx) and they are better but still warm. So I switch to the Brooks.
I get you. My Salomons that no longer fit me are waterproof and it does seem to make them run warm.
We're on London Clay here so when it does dry out the ground across the fields sets like concrete and I find trail shoes too stiff so I tend to use my road shoes.
That's interesting, I'd never thought about that. My main trail route is usually so covered in mud and leaves by the start of summer it barely dry out .
my daughter bought one pair of Hokas recently which she absolutely loves so, knowing she needed a spare pair, she ordered some more in a slightly different style …. and the second pair she rubbed the most horrendous blister the whole length of her left instep. She’d only run about a mile and she stopped and checked for sock ruckle ( nope) and could barely hobble home!! Needless to say they went straight back under 30 day guarantee and she has since ordered another like the first pair in a different colour. The blister stayed for well over a week too!!! There were lots of people with the same issue apparently so not all Hokas are equal.
Cliftons are my absolute favourite shoe! If they feel tight, try loosening the laces across the mid foot and having just the top holes tighter but lock your laces with the extra holes. I hope they work out for you but yes, they’re the marmite of running shoes 🤣
