I didn’t need to argue with myself about going for a run this morning! A glorious morning. I dispensed with my jacket and wore a single layer, a long sleeved running top. Could have worn my shorts - but as it wasn’t going to be a long run, I decided on the running tights. No gloves! And my trademark sun visor fulfilled its true purpose in keeping the sun out of my eyes. Sports glasses completed the look 😊. I go into the cloakroom to check in the mirror, forgetting that I’ve packed it. Doh!
I’m setting myself up for success by doing 30 minute runs. So I set off at a slow/steady pace, accompanied by one of my playlists. First track was Mr Blue Sky 🎶- and it was!
As I’m running, I try to put all the anxieties to one side. It’s a welcome respite, even for half an hour. I’m very tired. I accept it and tell myself I can easily run for 30 minutes, even when I’m tired! I can do the whole run really slowly and it won’t matter.
My watch vibrates and gives me my pace for the 2nd kilometre, but I can’t remember what the first kilometre was, so it doesn’t really help knowing 😂. I know I’m speeding up a bit, because I’m warmed up now, but decide to go with the flow and not worry about it. Should I stop at 3K? No! I promised myself 30 minutes and that’s what I’ll do. I’d be disappointed if I didn’t stick to this achievable plan.
I head out towards the Deadend Track and turn round at about 3.5K to run back into the village again. I hadn’t planned to, but I increase pace for the rest of the 4th kilometre. Run over and I have timed it perfectly for a warm down walk home. Job done! After my coffee and stretches, I pop out into the garden to take a snap of the forget-me-nots that I spotted yesterday while I was mowing the lawn.
