I’ve been a bit lax over the last few weeks. My normal 3-4 runs a week have dwindled to one a week and much shorter too.🥴 just not had no motivation -also worried about slipping on icy surfaces. And my Online Pilates classes stopped for two weeks over Xmas ( and so did I🙄). I had no excuse really as I could have accessed any amount of classes from the website but just didn’t.
We had done a lot of work on strengthening our arms and wrists in the lead up to the break. Couple with extra sewing and crocheting this ended up with me having really painful wrists for two weeks, hardly able to butter bread or turn the key in the ignition. So no Pilates and hardly any running and the Christmas pig out resulted in me piling on the weight. 😥
So this week that has all changed. Most of the Xmas goodies have gone, and classes are back live so I am on it with a vengeance again. No between meal nibbling, Pilates daily and I ran after this morning class too.
I woke this morning at 7.50 and leapt out of bed and downstairs to switch on my iPad for the ZOOM class at 8.00......... I thought I’d have to do the class in my PJs so wasn’t going to switch MY camera on just watch and listen to Ruth while she taught the class ...... but no one else was there. Then I checked and realised the class was at 8.30!! Doh!! Back upstairs and put my running gear on so no excuse once the class finished.
The class was good and we had loosened up every joint so as soon as I logged off it was jacket and thin gloves on, buff round head and out the door. My goodness that was a shock to the system!! I’d warmed up considerably with the Pilates and the cold air hit my lungs like liquid nitrogen.. glad I’d used my inhaler before I started!!! I set off briskly walking and headed for my normal starting place. And then started to run.
There were still some patches of ice in places so I crossed and recrossed the road avoiding these - luckily there were very few cars about. I had to run/ walk this morning as the cold was affecting my breathing quite a bit but it was a beautiful morning and really sunny in places. Makes you feel good to be alive on a day like this. I headed round and into a little housing estate near my home and pootled around here for a while and then back and along the side of the River Yeo, back through the lower end of the town and back round towards the end of the High Street. I passed a small boat on the riverbank, which was full of frozen rain or flood water. Obviously still pretty cold along there. I went to take a snap and then remembered I’d left my phone home and decided to run with no music. Shame really. Then I cut through another little set of flats and back round across and through Pilton Park and then back towards home. Not many other people about this morning, which was good to see, just a couple of dog walkers and another runner going in the opposite direction.
Home again and that was a nice 30 minute trot to set me up for the day. Once I’d showered there was time to finish off that last bit of jigsaw. My son and I started it on Christmas Day after lunch , then my other son and daughter had done a few bits before they went home and Levi and I have gone back to it every now and then since. It did get knocked into the floor by one of the cats when it was 3/4 finished but luckily it was on a wipe clean tablecloth and I managed to rescue it intact. And Loki escaped a thrashing - little pest!!! 🤣🤣
Hapoy New Year and Happy running folks 💪💪🏃♀️🏃♀️
