March Quest: Final Push

Hi Guys,

Hope you are all well... Boris spoke last night and we can still run (one form exercise a day) so we are lucky that we still have that liberty, some other places in the world are in a complete lockdown.

How are your quests going? The headspace given by running, or other exercises, is for me really essential right now. For me this is no longer running, so please feel free to add a km for me! Current advice, from Mr Gove m.youtube.com/watch?v=bWLQX... is that we should exercise for our usual amount of time.

Have fun out there if you’re running... remember to stay safe and observe social distancing while doing it. People who live in the same home can run together... if you’re running with anyone else, remember to stay six feet apart.

Still on the IC, but I’m sure I will get better quicker with the possibility of runs dangling before me. Meanwhile I am following everyone’s progress assiduously and waving virtual pom-poms as appropriate. 😊

Soon be back... and we will all be good so that you’re allowed outside!

Sorry you can't be running at the moment UNM, but did you have to inflict that sight upon us? It can never be unseen! 😵 Oh now look, I've been mean to a fellow runner, now I have guilt too 😂😂😂

Boris loves cycling and running, Boris Bikes in London, he is the last person who would wish us not to walk, run or bike ride during this Covid 19 crises.

Tomorrow I intend to run another 5K as part of the Vitality Running World Cup, sorry you can't run at the moment, however, you have contributed to the World Cup by running around 40Km or more. 😊 🏃🏾

Yeah... toying with a walk then run in one trip, but probably only doable once a week as it means having little miss and the dogs wait in the car (doors open of course) could possibly get a 5k in without annoying them too much.

I'm kind of on catch-up with yoga but not finding it difficult to do a daily practice right now.

And progressing slowly with C25K - did W4R1 yesterday and W3R3 on Saturday, went to local Forestry Commission (ie not beauty spot) woods. Remains to be seen what I do from here on in but it was nice to be able to do that.

Good stuff... nice to see you progressing. Hopefully the population at large will obey the temporary rules and we will remain able to exercise daily.

I'm still running; did 7K last week in my Juju Magic 10K progress and due to run 8K on Thursday. Bit nervous about it as it will take me about 70 minutes, which feels like a long time to be outside. Really wish I had bought a treadmill, though I have nowhere to put it! I felt a bit self-conscious running outside yesterday, even thought it was very very quiet.

Don't feel guilty about running outside, Boris says you can run, walk or bike ride once a day as long as you are on your own or with another person 2 metres away from you.

Lots of runners out today here... and it was wonderful to see... only saw one running in a pair, and as I know they’re a couple I know that the rules are being followed. People will get used to us... and hopefully, as cabin fever sets in, more people will think about starting an exercise regime if only to get away from daytime TV for a bit 🤣

70 minutes is fine... we are allowed to take our normal time on theses exercise outings (Mr Gove this morning in BBC Radio 5) so following a normal plan is acceptable. What they’re trying to prevent is everyone going for a 10 hour walk!

Great work... enjoy that Thursday 8k/5 miler.

I know what you mean... that heel strike and foot in front could become painful!

There are worse things about that picture than that, but perhaps we'll leave it there 😉

I’m apolitical... but will look for pictures of Mr Corbyn and others for next time, I know he is a keen cyclist 😀. The one thing I’d say, purely from a running perspective, is Boris isn’t the shape of an athlete, his form maybe not perfect, but he does try!

I'm having a great running week - 35k run in last 7 days🏃‍♀️ - exhausted but great stress relief. I stay in near countryside and woods so on 80min run today only saw a dozen people totally adhering to regs. Vo2max up 2 points, weight down 2kg which is bad so I need to eat more. 🍌🧀🎂

My cross training is doing speed packing of the house🏠🚚 assuming govt don't clamp down on house moves - stressful the amount of stuff to get rid of with no recycle plant or charity shop. Think I'll dump a bundle at neighbours and promise to return in autumn 🤣🤣

Happy running everyone 🤗

You need to eat more? That’s awesome! May I suggest that it’s those treats that are “bad for us” that maybe missing... for me nothing beats something we are told not to eat once my long run is done. For me a vanilla slice is my go to guilty pleasure... it used to be that glass of wine that cost the same as inoculating a child... but running World Cup has put that in balance 🤣

5k a day average over a week is absolutely amazing... keep on running.

Not sure on the house moves... is there a chain? Are all the removal companies still active? I wish you well with it, and hope the answer to the latter is yes.

GrannyhugsGraduate10 in reply to UnfitNoMore

Thank you, it's such a volatile time that we are hoping for the best and planning the worst for the actual move. Short chain us, our buyers and our new house. Legally binding contracts have been in place for a few weeks so it's just the government restrictions that would hamper things. We could all stay where we are for 6 months till it all sorts out. Very lucky. 🤗

Whoever that bloke is, he’s still unfit ....... 😀

I’m just about over my non-CV cold, managed a gentle (27’30”) 5k yesterday. One monthly target overtaken by gym closures, so will need to re-plan. Might just try to get to 10k by the end of the month.

Onwards and upwards!!

UnfitNoMore profile image
UnfitNoMoreGraduate10 in reply to UpTheStanley

Can’t beat a gentle one... your time shows that these things are relative too! I didn’t think I’d ever miss the dreadmill, but now it’s taken away I really want to get in that gym.

Not too sure who the bloke is, but if you see him I’m sure he’s benefit from coming on that 10k with you!

🍏Still running solo 3x a week as early as possible...thinking about & praying for all the fantastic people on this forum, that they will be kept safe from the virus.

UnfitNoMore profile image
UnfitNoMoreGraduate10 in reply to Annieapple

Great job. I think about us all too... and I figure we are all relatively fit for our ages... and that has to help here. I also remember how quickly C25K builds that fitness, so I’m hoping we get a massive influx of new runners now.

Stay safe, and happy running.

Hi UNM,

Still keeping up the Yoga daily and physio. My foot today is more comfortable ( Still quite early) but I'm taking it as a plus...

I think I may postpone my physio appt on 31st as it's at a private hospital now being used for treating Covid 19 patients.

I can carry on as I am, no need to put myself and others at risk.

Namaste. Stay strong, keep well.

🙏👏🌷xxx

Good to hear it’s getting better and sounds like a wise plan to defer your appointment.

Keep safe and on that yoga... we will all be stronger the other side of this.
