Hello everybody. I would like to invite you to the next 10 is the Magic Number 10k plan, to follow week by week with vids, support and guidance, with me Ju Ju. So we have just had a festive break and likely to have eaten more than we normally do last month.... so... what better time to train for a 10k...
*The plan last 8 weeks and each week I will be posting a strength exercise that you can do at work, at home, in the supermarket, in the loo..... designed to fit in with life
. I will be starting a plank challenge as well- the idea is to get you from 10 seconds to a minute over the 8 weeks, OR ito get you to do a plank routine using different types of plank. Interested?
*Print off with the plan on to stick on your fridge.
So, if you are interested I will start on the 31st of January. Please add your name on the comments as I will be having a list of names on the post to hold you to account!!!

I can run 30 minutes comfortably and would like to be able to run for an hour, I have a fair bit of weight to lose so I’m not very fast so this would initially be a time thing rather than a distance thing. I can run 4 km in 30 minutes which is improving a little with every run. Keen to give it a go because I like structure and a goal 😀
Umm can I sort of join in? I’ve already started the Magic Plan - just finished week 2, but I think I might need to take a little longer than 8 weeks, so I’ll probably cross over and may still finish after you!
Hi Ju-Ju, I’ve done this once before and it’s a brilliant plan. I fell off of the running track over Christmas and need to get back...please can I tag along? Happy new year! Jo x
Hi JuJu, I graduated at the end of October and since then I have consolidated 5k then increased my runs to 6k with the odd 5k. Today I did 7k with thoughts of doing a6 and a 5 later this week. Do you think I am ok to just gradually add an extra k on like this. I would like to get to 10k by June.
Hi Ju-ju, I am going to do your magic plan for the 3rd time, because it works for me. But because I’m skiing in February/March I will start early and will be out of kilter with everyone else. So I’ll just get on with it myself this time. It looks like you’ve got lots of takers already. 🏃♂️🏃♀️🏃♂️🏃♀️
Me please 🙋♀️ I graduated early November and have done 6 park runs and just run 6K tonight. Definitely feel ready to up the stamina in my legs, oh and bring on the plank challenge!!!
Yes please! Graduated 5k end of November. Trying to run 3 times a week still and up to 7k. Just signed up for my first 10k at the end of March. Could really do with some help 🏃
I’d like to be in, I’ve already started week 1, but recovering from a knee injury so taking it steady for a bit. I think I need the accountability for strength work as well as by the end of Jan the yoga with Adriene challenge will be finished!
Yes please! I actually started it a couple of weeks ago but I’m struggling to fit in three runs a week so I won’t be ahead of the rest of you guys for long. Doing distance.
Right. I need to make a decision. I was going to postpone again and do your plan next time round but I feel I need a bit of focus so may I join in please? My initial thought is that I’ll probably opt for time rather than distance. And I may take longer than 8 weeks but we’ll see how it goes! Oh crikey, what have I let myself in for?!
I think I might like to do it! I will be able to run 10k by my birthday then! I can do 5k in just under 40mins, relatively comfortably, is that going to be ok to do distance? I am planning on doing a 10k in spring/summer. X
Count Me In, I've wanted to do this for a year since graduating C25K, but injuries have got in the way. On consolidation runs at the moment so fingers crossed!
Its how you feel really. It sounds like you've had a good amount of consolidation and are running regular 5k's so it feels it could be doable for you. Have a think as theres still a couple of weeks before we start
Yes please, me and hubby would like to sign up! Currently running 5K 2-3 times a week but need structured help to get us to 10K... signed up to our local 10K at the beginning of June 😬 Thanks!
I have been consolidating and building up distance since the end of October. I have ran 7k 3 times now - I am slow but I believe I can get to 10k by the end of March - does the time matter?
Time does not matter at all... this plan is about distance OR time... so the distance can be any length of time, but some folk choose to up the time spent running, rather than focus on distances. The plan sounds ideal for you as you have already got to 7k...
I think I’d like to join, but I’m quite scared. I did the Magic Plan in September/ October and completed my first 10k event. I was loving running longer distances and started straight away again in November (just ahead of the actual start, to keep momentum and because I wouldn’t have time to run three times every week as work and winter intensified). My times were consistently better and I was really enjoying it. Anyway, on 5th December I had a cycling accident and bruised my sternum quite severely. I couldn’t run for three weeks and since I started tentatively again I’ve apparently lost all my stamina and a lot of my joy in running. The winter doesn’t help. Last Saturday I managed 7km but it was slower and more difficult than ever. Otherwise I’ve only managed a few 5ks, and I’m stuck at around 37 minutes. Before I could just about manage sub 7 mins /k and my 10ks were around 1h10. How did I lose so much condition so quickly?
I know I can count on everyone here to encourage me, and I hope that’ll get me over this hump. Off for a longish run in the rain later.
I am not surprised, that sounds like a horrible accident, and that can really take the stuffing out of you...... I think you will find the lighter days, having a structure to follow, and the support from everyone here take you to a better place in your running. Give it time and try not to give yourself high expectations. I find that is the thing that drains the mind of energy, focus your mind on getting out and enjoying your time outside
I have not long graduated so have just started my consolidation. I haven't reached 5k - 4.6 is the best so far but I do prefer to have some structure. I was going to try Laura with her Strength and Flex pod cast but now I'm wondering if I should try the 'timed' one? I'm finding it difficult to get motivated atm. Any advice?
You may find the timed one beneficial? And you can do the Strength and flex podcasts on the days that you arent running. However making your main focus the structure of getting out for your run 3 times a week is a great start
JuJu, count me in, I’m up for this. Graduated C25K in August and have been running three times a week since then including Parkruns, not Mr Speedy by any definition but do fancy increasing the distance.
Just one concern....I’ve noticed (certainly at Pontefract!) that a lot of folk bring their dogs to Parkrun and aside from all the cute Spaniels, Labs, etc one guy does bring a big furry Alsatian....me and my running buddy often joke how if he unleashed it, we’d all be running a lot faster!
So when I saw your “happy Panthering” line.....
Sign me up JuJu and I’ll just have to get used to running against or from with Big Cats, presumably there’s 🦁 and 🐅 too?!
Haha yes, parkrun does bring out all the furries!!! I am rather mad on large cats like panthers, so its always been my thing. On landmark runs I usually dress up as one. Which makes me think having a fancy dress theme for the final run is a great idea!!!! You are on the list
Hi JuJu. Not sure if you got my post earlier, but I would love to do the 10K challenge, if that’s okay? I haven’t run since May last year, so may struggle in the first 2 weeks but I’m up for it.
Hello, there isnt a podcast with this. There are weekly posts with a youtube vid from me telling you what to focus on for the following week. There is also a print off plan for you to stick on your fridge so that you can cross the runs off. There will be lots of support on here for everyone completing to help you through
Hope this isn’t bad manners when I see you’ve enough responding to do.. but I’m texting to say no. 😰. I read your post earlier and it’s been on my mind, and was slightly tempted especially as I recognise so many of the names on the list. I’ve only done 6 consolidation runs having graduated at the start of January. The fact is I can run for the 30 mins but don’t ‘ ‘feel’ that I can - that make sense? Confidence thing. Do you do this regularly though and I could aim for being the first 🙋🏻♀️ with my hand up next time? The fact that you do this bridge is fab.
Hello, not a problem at all. Its really sensible to consolidate your runs and get the routine and comfortable feeling going before embar on the next thing. I will be doing another in May which will hopefully be good for you?
Yes please, I will do the distance plan. I followed the plan in the autumn and ran 10k a couple of times. Haven't gone much further than 5k recently and would like to get back to the longer run again.
Well I have put this step off for probably over year. It’s about time I stepped up to a new challenge and extended my running. Going for time first - 60 minutes is the target and we’ll see how far that gets us! I am a slow plodder...so this RunVicRun signing up for Ju-Ju’s Magic Plan!!
Hi ju-ju-; I did sign up and am on your list. I then forgot I’d signed up but decided I needed the structure so Dexy5 gave me your plan, now sitting on my fridge door, and I started last week so week one done! Sorry! But I’m pretty sure I’ll take more than 8 weeks so I’ll soon be trotting along behind you all! I’ll get there in the end - though by that time you may have another new group !
