New Hoka shoes...and happier knee! 🤞

I had read that Hoka are often called 'Marmite' shoes - you either love 'em or hate 'em! I had to stop running in my (supportive) Brooks Adrenalines as my niggly knee really didn't seem to like them! 🙂 Knowing that Brooks Caldera trail shoes have suited me well, I did some research (well, quite a lot actually😮) and ended up getting some Hoka One One Challenger ATR 5's. They are a trail shoe which transitions well on to pavements with a low heel drop (5mm) which seems to suit me well. I have only had two runs in them so far but (touch wood) my knee has felt much happier and they are fab to run in - no niggles at all today👍🙂

Will see how they go on my 10k run on Sunday but it is looking like I may be a convert!😍

Nice shoes, you will probably get a PB running in them for your 10K on Sunday, good luck for that run. 🏃

Thank you.🙂 Sadly, I am way off my PB pace these days🙁 but a niggle-free run would be wonderful! Just happy to be running.🙂🏃🏽‍♀️

That’s interesting Sandra, because I’ve been having all sorts of niggles with the GTS19s too. The 18s suited me perfectly. My shoe shop described the hokas as marmite shoes too. I tried the road shoes but they did feel funny to me. I might need to try something else for the GSR in October

I think it's just finding what suits you best! Funny how a slight tinkering with a model can make such a difference but it does seem to sometimes. I know my gait changed after I had sciatica and damaged the nerve in my leg. Since then, I really haven't got on well with stability shoes (which in theory should suit me). The Hokas feel similar to my Caldera's but have better cushioning. Like you, I want to be ready for the GSR - and am doing all the right exercises too. Fingers crossed! 🤞

Absolutely adore my Hokas. They're like walking / running on clouds.

I use Hoka Arahi. Not the prettiest, but my left knee loves them💕💕

I love my Hoka’s, first pair were Arahi but picked up a pair of Gaviottas in a sale. I love them both. 💕

Oh, they look rather nice. I hope the 10k race went well (was it today?).

Thanks - unfortunately I didn't make the race this morning due to feeling unwell last night (I opted for a lie-in instead!☺️). Much brighter this afternoon however, and took myself off for a lovely 10k all on my own! 👍🙂
