Lovely run in the dark! ๐ŸŒƒ

Went for my long run this evening with someone from my running group. We ran along the beachfront path that I used to run in the summer - very different in the dark, I wouldn't have gone that way on my own! Lovely to see all the stars overhead. It was my running buddy's first 10k so he was dead chuffed. A bit slower than my normal pace but I was fine with that, it made a change to not be worrying about my pace, just running for the sake of running.

Just wanted to say thank you again for the advice I was given on this forum about keeping my blood sugar steady. I ate small meals again today, and sipped on my Tailwind drink all the way round, and I felt great! I definitely could've carried on for longer. My running buddy said he found his stride for the first time ever, so he was buzzing!

I wore my new long-sleeved top and long leggings, which were great but I'd forgotten about the wind chill factor, I could've done with a jacket too. And GLOVES!! My fingers were frozen for the first few k, and again when we slowed down for the cool-down walk. Wrapping up a bit warmer for my next 10k race on Sunday.

Happy running everyone, and keep warm! ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿƒ๐Ÿƒ๐Ÿƒ

Itโ€™s good ood to have a running buddy in the dark Mutley and it sounds like it benefitted both of you.

We are all learning as we go with this cold weather - Iโ€™ve just bought new gloves following Saturdayโ€™s cold parkrun. Theyโ€™ve got special finger tips to use your phone too. A buff round my neck was good.

I like the sound of those gloves - did you buy in a shop or online? I wore my buff as a wide headband, kept my ears warm and my head felt cosy! Yes it was great to have someone to run with in the dark, although I do like to have one solo run in the week. There's only one route I feel safe on in the dark on my own so it was good to be able to do a different route.

I bought a pair in ASICS and a pair for hubby in under armour, both outlet stores but Iโ€™m sure you can get them most shops, or online.

Just between us (dexy and mutley ๐Ÿ˜‰ ) I donโ€™t know what a buff is. Post a pic as you can imagine the images for buff that I get when I google ? Iโ€™ve just learnt what those holes in my sleeves are too. Did you run with a torch mutley ? Iโ€™d be afraid of tripping on my woodland paths.

๐Ÿ˜‚ amazon.co.uk/dp/B00AYHJIFM/... It's like a snood, but you can wear it as a headband or hat - I got a cheapy one but a real Buff is a few pounds more!

I don't have a headtorch yet but my running partner had one, just a cheap one off Amazon, and it was fab, bright enough for both of us

Oh MS that sounds delightful! ๐Ÿ˜€ Iโ€™d love to run in the dark, but I wouldnโ€™t feel safe doing so where I run (shame, but certain โ€˜activitiesโ€™ are known to take place there on occasion ๐Ÿ˜ณ)

And I know exactly what you mean about gloves! I ran yesterday morning wearing the same as you and felt fine, but my hands were ice blocks for the first 10 minutes! Lesson learned. ๐Ÿ‘

Lovely for you and your friend. I bet you both felt awesome afterwards! ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ˜€

Yes we both were buzzing afterwards! Defo need a partner for some routes - I wouldn't brave it on my own. Nice to get away from the roads though ๐Ÿ˜Š

That sounds such a lovely run.

I've found thin running gloves are all I've needed even in sub zero, and most times i have to take them off after a little while

Yes thin ones would probably do the trick, then I can easily stuff them in my pockets as I warm up. Just one more teensty purchase coming up for me! ๐Ÿ˜

They are very cheap. I got karrimor ones off eBay for a couple of quid

That sounds wonderful ๐Ÿ˜ƒ. Sometimes everything slots into place and you have a fab run.

I ran in the dark last night, on local streets, but it was pitch dark in places. Difficult to see the ground at my feet even with my torch.

Bit scarey isn't it? ๐Ÿ˜ฎ Must get that torch!

Sounds great! I have to keep my hands and my head warm on a run. More so than almost any other part. I have fingerless gloves to work the watch screen if it is not too cold or mitts for -1 and colder runs. โ„๏ธ Seeing the stars at night along the waterfront is definitely a bonus!

Yes I've got some fingerless gloves, they will do until my new sporty "touchscreen" gloves arrive - ordered off ebay today! ๐Ÿ˜Š
