Did my first Parkrun in January! (Can’t believe it was that long ago!) Anyway I usually work Saturdays so don’t often get a chance. There are 3 Parkruns within about a 40 min drive away! Last time I did Portobello so decided to try Vogrie Country Park!
I was still quite anxious beforehand but that’s just me !! I know I don’t need to be as everyone is very friendly! We have a 9.30 start in Scotland! Husband drove me with older son!
Beautiful sunny morning ! I opted for vest top and my capris with the zip pocket in leg for phone! I’d made a new playlist but didn’t bother with music at all! Didn’t want to wear my running belt either!!
Found out there are only usually 100 to 200 people and everyone I spotted seemed like experienced club runners!!!! Anyway I got chatting to a really nice lady from Huddersfield! She is doing “Alphabet “Parkruns so was delighted to be doing “V” I had no idea people did that!!!!!
Mustn’t waffle on too much! We got under way and course was 2 laps of Park! We were mainly in woods and the paths were very narrow! And much hillier than I anticipated!! I got swiftly overtaken by a man pushing a double buggy near the end!!! It was pretty hard going and I was glad to finish! I came in 111 th out of 195 . 40th woman home in a time of 28.14 which was a few seconds faster than my other parkrun! Met up with lady from Huddersfield! She did 25 mins! We walked back to car park together! A good morning out! (Boys enjoyed their bacon butties in the cafe while I was torturing myself!!!! )

Lovely photos of you looking trim and fast and bright. /well done for your time. i would love to be that fast, but maybe my next life! xxx
Aww thank you! Speed doesn’t really matter! Its all relative! I don’t feel as if I’m going fast! I got a bit swept along with others. I’d like to do another one sometime but still have no desire to enter any races! I’ve upped my race at your pace to 50 miles August challenge instead of 25 to push myself a bit!! I’m sure you’ll enjoy your 10k race coming up soon! 😀x
Wow Sarakc , that is a brilliant time for a route with inclines and narrow paths. Lovely to have the support of your family too. What a lovely morning it was with sun but not intense heat. 🏃♀️👏
Thank you!! It was definitely a more challenging course than last one! I asked someone beforehand if it was hilly and he said well it’s quite relentless!!!! Nice having support too and first time I’ve really seen pics of me in action ha ha!!!😀
Looks like you are smashing that Parkrun, despite hills! Good to have some photographers around too, even if you have to feed them bacon butties! (I got overtaken by 3 buggies today, including one double - those buggy guys are fit! 😂❤️)
Thank you!! Yes it also took pressure off me driving and fussing about where to park!! My son is still going on about me being overtaken by a double buggy near finish! I just felt relieved getting round in one piece!! Lots of potential trip hazards!!! 😂🏃♀️
Well done you! I was 265th out of 374!! 67th female! Think 2nd in age/gender group sounds better. You look decades younger than me! To fit such things in among children and work commitments, you must be a super star!
Wow brilliant time Sarah! You look great too, lovely pics. Can't wait until some of this interval work equates to better times but posts like yours and 61' keep me motivated to keep on pushing.
Way to go Sara.... Fair play you look fab in that photo, a true runner and that cool wave just sets it off perfectly. Glad you enjoyed it and you did so well xx 😊
