After my first 10k event yesterday, I am looking to find another 10k to do locally. However, I have also decided that come payday(!) I am going to enter the Great South Run (10 miler) down in Portsmouth in October! It will give me a new goal and given that my longest run to date has been 11k, I reckon I have plenty of time to increase my distance. ("It's only another Parkrun on top" someone said to me today!๐ฎ). My sister had tried to get me to sign up for a HM this autumn, but I would like longer to build up my running legs, and don't know yet if a HM will ever be for me! I know I love 10k, it's a distance you can really settle in to, not sure if I would feel the same about a gut-busting HM! Either way, I will be hitting Portsmouth (with my sister again) in October to tackle the next step up! It's all a journey, I guess! ๐

Aw that's great Sandra !
Ali, Paul, Boz and Frank from here did it last year, it sounds like a brilliant race .
These organised events are brilliant aren't they ? I love taking part in them
This bug bites ! xxx
I remember that! Really like Portsmouth, so it has to be done!! Yep, wasn't sure what I would make of a huge event as I do love my 'lonely' runs! But you're right - they're a lot of fun and loved the buzz!
ooh Sandra! hope we get to meet up before or after! that would be good! well done on your decision, you will definitely be fine for 10 miles, and for a HM i reckon! Gosport HM in November is nice and flat and with a great goodie bag!! Just saying!!!!
It'll be great to have another race with your sister in Oct. Maybe you can keep the HM in the back of your mind. Training for it would be a way to keep yourself motivated through the winter.
Don't you start!! ๐ Ok, I confess, I did take a sneaky look at our local one in March next year! But really (honestly) will not even look at the website again until 10miles is in the bag and I am still alive๐ฎ!
Wow... exciting times!
Oooo get you Sandra๐ No honestly how exciting, fun running times ahead. I hope I catch the race bug from you!! Good luck with the plans xx
Great stuff Sandra, many congrats for your 10k on Sunday.
You have got plenty of time to build up to 10 miles if that is what you opt for.
Great going ๐.
Great South run here you come. Doubtless the GSR will lead to 10, then you might as well do the extra 3 after that - just to see ๐
