Radical Mastectomy - Post Surgery Pain

Hi,

My mother 68 years old , had radical mastectomy on 11th January 2020 (more than 4 months ago). She still has lot of pain underarm. Is this normal, how long typically post surgery pain lasts, kindly share.

Most patients have it and it is expected. It is due to division of nerves during surgery and is called neuropathic pain. It does settle with time.

Varies from patient to patient. Sometimes, it settles in a few months. Sometimes, it can last much longer.
