I would surely like to help you, but it is beyond scope of this forum to discuss that or for that matter, any question on survival or treatment planning or anything else related to that since it needs a details assessment and understanding of a patient and her entire reports. I request you to please ask this to your Oncologist.
Your MIL would first need a Biopsy to prove this is cancer and further tests like ER,PR,Her-2 status will be requested by your oncologist.
Unfortunately if proven cancerous, this will be no doubt Stage IV and incurable, however it can certainly be controlled for many years to come with medical management involving chemotherapy, hormone therapy if indicates, targeted therapy if indicated.
Asking for survival is bit crude as we as oncologists don't pretend to be God..each patient is different..I may expect some patients to do well..some not to..it's a tough judgement call..one may want to see if she is responding to chemo or hormones...loads of factors need to be balanced....and of course...one needs to assess your MIL s physical, mental and emotional ability to withstand all what's gonna come these next few years....
This forum is all about supporting you and giving u the strength and hope to make best use of what's left, rather than culminate in thoughts of the half empty glass.
