Gabepentin and Tamoxifen

Has anyone using Tamoxifen been prescribed Gabepentin for hot flashes and sleep?

Thanks for yr reply- was wondering about long term use of gabepentin- I am taking 300 mg- really helps with sleep and hot flashes- does 300 seem like a lot?

That’s exactly what I take. It is not a high dose. I’m not really worried about long term because I plan on stopping when I stop taking my estrogen blocker. Besides I feel much better after a night of sleep vs a night of several hot flashes and minimal sleep.

OMG is there something that can help with sleep?? It just doesn't happen for me and is getting worse. I stayed up all night on Tuesday to see if that would work the next night. It didn't. Have just sent the husband out for tonic to see if getting drunk will do it. I have plenty of gin - ha ha ha. Sleep envy is soooo real.

I was having huge sleep challenges and the Gabapentin seems to really help me.

I think the lack of estrogen due to Tamoxifen has a big effect on sleep- definitely affected my sleep cycle- I tried melatonin timed release 10mg plus added magnesium and valerian and these helped for awhile but then stopped working-

Maybe try something natural first- I also tried a couple of different sleeping pills - which did work-Trazadone and Zopiclone but was told I couldn’t / shouldn’t use them long term so that was where I was at when Gabepentin was prescribed- see what yr doctor thinks- sleep is so important!!

Thanks! I've tried melatonin with no success. I start tamoxifen soon so will ask GP about sleep drugs. Or a mallet!!

Would be really interested to know which brand you are taking? I suffered badly with insomnia but changed the brand and can now sleep like a baby!

I’m now on Wockhardt. I was on Tillomed which caused insomnia. Xx

I take Nolvadex- never heard of the brand you are taking- I am in Canada - it’s either Nolvadex or generic tamoxifen citrate - the doctor’s recommendation was to take the name brand of the drug
