Maybe ask your breast care nurse if there's a bra fitting service at the breast clinic that's available for you

Hello. I dont know whether they had front opening, but marks and Spencers have a good range of post surgery bras which I bought myself for my reconstruction 2 weeks ago. They are supportive but softer than a typical bra, softer band under bust, pocket for a prosthesis if needed, perhaps have a look on website, best wishes.

I second M&S and they have nice cotton sports bras and whilst not being front fastening they are nice. Also have a look on Amazon I've just bought a nice front fastener for £15.

Good luck with it all xx

I never went for the expensive route. I.kept to strappy tops that were double at top, the softie stayed there just...ideal for lounging inhouse and bed. Then later found sports bra...for 4 pounds I tripled the size and bought a whopping 22 to 24...Peacocks...white...i am size 18. Back of the cups are little slits where you can put the softie in. First option all 2.50 from Primark you need a few, second option soft comfee and makes a good substitute until you really have healed. I was supporting single masectomy,...ther side I slide in flat foam insert for nipple free look. Yes, its unsupportive one side but I added some pleats to the vest fitting band of the strappy top. These are my solutions...use expensive ones for later, heal first.

You will need a few lot of personal shoppers to source the quality you may require as each shop may only stock 2...so tell your friends and family. Three stores to get 4!

Ring the ward that you will be going to - here in Leeds you can buy them from them - I bought pricy front openers, spent a fortune as I had large breasts, they were useless -'the ward gave me one and I bought a couple more form them - nice and soft and had pockets in for softie - I wore these through radiotherapy as well as they had no wires in - best wishes for everything x

Hiya I too wear m&s post surgery bras, I got my normal size but wear them with expander that I bought from Nicola Jane online about £4 each. I got 3 2-hook spammers in different colours and one 3-hook expander in nude.

My first bra buying experience in m&s was upsetting. When I asked the shop assistant Sotho voice where I could find the postbsurgery bras she said "POST SURGERY?" In the loudest possible voice. That was Salisbury. Not like me not or respond (!) but was too shocked at the time.

My next shopping trip and I approached the fitting room ladies and asked for some discretion and was taken straight to a cubicle where I asked for help selecting post surgery bras. I was given an appointment for a fitting th next day and the lady was lovely and discrete. The hat was Brooklands, outside Woking. Hope this helps.

I got mine from m and s. I got the next size up due to the swelling after surgery. When the swelling went down and they became to big i brought one from asda but it was not as good and supportive.

amoena.co.uk. is a very good site. In Ireland we are allowed two bras every year and one prosthesis every 3 - 4 years. It is paid for by the state. The bras are of really good quality. I bought some bras on their website and I even bought a waterproof prosthesis for swimming. It felt very natural and I didn't feel at all self-conscious while wearing a swimsuit. They are fairly pricey but I usually wait for the sales.

Hi hg24, good luck with surgery. I had a right breast mastectomy in October 2016 and was surprised at how painfree it was immediately afterwards and for weeks really. The surgeon had a really good dig around but thanks to nuclear scanning, they isolated the sentinel ( closest to the breast) nodes beforehand so knew what to take out there. Regarding bras, I didn't feel like wearing one for a few days, ( I had bought a chain store post op bra and found it to be very suitable, if not exactly comfortable. I was kindly sent some "knitted knockers" to use with the bra for comfort, prior to my eventually buying a prosthesis. It's too early for me to even think about re construction or putting my body through any more trauma, so that's me for now. Lopsided, but managing well. 🌺
