It's a bit difficult to say, Gotskills. What you are offered will depend on your age and your oncologist's view of your own particular circumstances. Your oncologist should give you all the information you need at the time you need it. From what you say, for instance, you were not offered Herceptin - which is a hormone therapy which would be given straight away after your lumpectomy. After your cancer is diagnosed there is so much going on and so much to take in that - in my experience - the medical team guides you step by step so that you can take it all in.

Hi Gotskills , im taking Anastrozole for the next 5 years. So far the only problem has been hot flushes, which i never had during the menopause so its a new experience. I also don’t seem to feel the cold as much, hopefully that will mean lower heating bills this winter!!!Everyone probably reacts differently though, I hope you cope ok with whatever drug you are prescribed xx

Hi Gotskills. As mentioned you need to consult with your oncology team as everyone's circumstances are different. I'm on Letrozole and yes there are side effects but mine may be different to other people's. It's a difficult one which is why you need to ask questions of your oncology team. Not trying to be negative but they are the experts. Also not sure whether the breast cancer pathway is the same here as in the US. Best regards.

Hi I was on tamoxifen for 5 years than letrozole for another 5 years. They gave me calcium tablets to take with the letrozole and also had to have a bone density scan to keep a look out for osteoporosis. I was discharged thank goodness this September, no guarantee it would not come back she said, but stated the letrozole would not do me any more good at present. I did put on weight a bit and my hair thinned a bit and if I went any where I needed a toilet nearby however nothing major.
