First FEC-t

knocked me about quite a lot, had an ultrasound before first of 4 fec-t and my 3cm tumour is the size of the marker 😱. Still waiting for the gene test results and seeing consultant this afternoon, hopefully I will be able to get something for the oral thrush this time and will be able to eat and drink 🥴

Hi 🌷🌷🌷

It is a waiting game, l had a very sore mouth too. I changed my toothbrushes to soft children’s ones & changed them weekly.

As well as what they give you for thrush, eat live plain yogurt after every meal as it really does help.

Let us know later how you get on. Good Luck 🍀

Thanks I’ll try the toothbrush and yogurt ideas, I will xx

Also, a good lip salve as l found the corners of my mouth were inclined to split.

You have to come to terms with food tastes pretty awful so l eventually settled on a runny porridge for breakfast, l know it’s a bit hot for that but it is filling & nutritious.

Homemade Soup (or Supermarket Equivalent) scrambled eggs or pasta.

Frozen Tinned Pineapple Chunks or even just pineapple chunks fresh or tinned. Manna from the gods for your mouth 😉

😂 thanks I found porridge was the best, doesn’t the pineapple sting?

in reply toShihtzumom

No it refreshes & tickles the tastebuds, just try a pineapple chunk unfrozen, l think you’ll be surprised! 😉

Brac 1&2 came back negative thank god, consultant was trying to give me 3 strong doses instead of 4 so the next one Thursday will be slightly reduced, consultant is setting up a meeting with the surgeon to discuss my mastectomy 😢

Ah, Shibtzumom 🌷🌷🌷

It’s so tough, my darling isn’t it, l had my surgery first, l had a Mastectomy too, followed by the Chemo.

It’s awful but you can do it & over come it! I was Triple Negative & also Brac Negative so no hereditary issues!

I think you’ll cope better with four slightly less doses than three bigger ones, it all amounts to the same in the end.

Take Care & there’s always someone around if you want a chat & l’m happy if you want to PM me.

Take Care

That's great news about the negative brac 1and2.

I was so nervous meeting my plastic surgeon, but she was amazing throughout from the first day I met her to deciding which surgery, to answering my questions, the surgery itself and after surgery appointments. In the end I had a mastectomy with DIEP reconstruction in January and I'm very happy with the results.

After the 3 month recovery time I continued my chemo with weekly treatments of Paclitaxel recommended by my oncologist, I can honestly say I'm glad she did, the weekly treatments have been sooo much better! No sickness just tiredness and I only have 2 more to go.

Take care u and ur husband.

Hello Shihtzumom,

I had 3 rounds of Fect, the first round was OK, compared to the other 2. Sadly got sickness with all 3.

I got mouth ulcers from the 2nd and 3rd round, I was recommended by a gp to use bonjela soothing teething gel, and surprisingly worked better than the prescribed mouthwash.

I couldn't eat much without the mouth ulcers hurting except for crumpets, as they were soft enough for me to eat, oh and ice lollies and anything with lemon like lemon and ginger tea, lemon squash/cordial is good for a dry mouth.

I hope all goes well for you and hope the above can help?

Take care

Sami😊
