How can I get a mammography appointment?

I discovered a lump in my breast.

Which is the faster way to get an appointment?

I dont have medical card, and my insurance is very basic. But I will pay by my own. I have a daughter and I am very worry.

We arrived to Ireland in March 2018.

I will appreciate very much any suggestion, or comments or info.

Many thanks.

I’m not in Ireland so my knowledge of their Medical System is limited.

Are you registered with a GP? As in the U.K. that is where we would go first for an Examination & Referral.

Good Luck

Thank you very much MrsNails. I need to ask for a GP, and I think it takes time, but I will do it. Thank you for your time.

You must fo to your doctor for referal to rhe breast clinic. If you do not have a doctor you must go and register with one. Are you in Dublin? If so, go to St Vincents Hospital. If you go into the grounds of the hospital, looking at the main entrance, to the left of it, walk to the very end thete is another building there that says Breast Check, if you go to the reception there they may see you if you dont have a gp. However your best option is to register with a doctor.

Thank you very much Lainey66. I am living in Carlow. I need to register with a doctor. I only have a basic health insurance VHI.

I am bit scare, and I wanted to get a mammography for this weekend. Now, I am more calm and I will ask how to register with a GP.

Many thanks for your time.

Yes, I will do it, but I need to wait until Monday. And I dont know if they will have an appointment for the same date. But I will go for sure!

If you have VHI you can go to one of the private hospitals and ask for a mamogram, you may have to initially pay for it, check your policy you may find it will be covered by VHI. You will also be seen much quicker. You can call the Beacon or Blackrock Clinic or St Vincent's Private. They are only about an hour away from Carlow on the M50. All the best and let us know how you get on. Lainey xxx
