Had my operation

Well today I had a full auxiliary clearance of lymph nodes, my concern at the moment isn’t about lymphoma but it’s about my cancer and has it spread further. I was told by someone from theatre today that my nodes seemed inflamed, I’m worried that this has not been caught in time.... I’ve got a 10 day gruelling wait now for my results, I feel like I’m going out my mind.

How awful for you, who from Theatre told you this?....

Thinking of you & sending you positive wishes for your results.

Hi Tricia, I feel you shouldn't have been told about your nodes bring inflamed, the medical team looking after you will gather all the info about them and discuss the results with you next week, look after yourself, sending best wishes xxxxx

My surgeon didn’t seem happy that someone had told me, especially as they know how anxious I’ve been. X

Hi Tricia. I am so sorry you have been given another layer of anxiety thanks to a thoughtless comment made when you were probably feeling at your most vulnerable, that is so unacceptable. The health anxiety that cancer creates is probably one of the toughest things to deal with through this whole process and I can only imagine how difficult this is for you after everything you have already been through. If at all possible try to take one day at a time and try not to allow your mind to think about the ‘what ifs’ (easier said than done I know). My mother has a friend who had breast cancer 20 years ago which was in at least 10 of her nodes she is still fit and well to this day. Sending big hugs ❤️

Don’t worry. The nodes were inflamed because they were fighting the cancer cells so they were protecting you. Now that the growth was removed together with the nodes, you’re on your way to recover from your cancer!

Once, a nurse in the breast clinic during a mammogram started asking me questions about the treatment I had, so I started to panic thinking that she sees a recurrence and wanted to find out if my treatment had been good enough. I was stressed until I got the results of the mammogram which showed I was 100% free of cancer, but that nurse, for whatever reason, wanted to ask about my treatment. Unfortunately, some nurses don’t think about the patients’ feelings.

I’m sure you have nothing to worry about.

All the best!

🤗

P.S. I think you meant lymphoedema and not lymphoma which is, to my knowledge, a totally different health problem.
