I’m scared!

I got the news stage 3 breast cancer 7cm in my breast and in my lymph node - had CT scan last Wednesday - on the waiting game again before a treatment plan can be discussed. I have lupus nephritis too and am taking immune suppressants for it. I’m really scared for my CT scan results because they want to see if the cancer has spread elsewhere. I’m worried about my lupus and now this. Is there anybody else in the same or similar position please? I’m just reaching out …

When I was diagnosed with cancer I was really concerned about my cancer spreading as well and what helped me when I was waiting to hear results was I would do things that made me happy like watch a nice movie or something like that to keep my mind off of things maybe this can help you as well All the best to you I hope that it didn't spread

Hi SamRigs , I have Sjögren’s and I get rituximab infusions. I had a lumpectomy and radiotherapy, the oncologist and rheumatologist did coordinate about treatment which helped. I had to stop infusions for a year during treatment, it was difficult, I did get a steroid shot to help me keep going.

It will depend on what treatment you take for lupus, I think, you might need to come off it prior to surgery and until you finish any other treatments. Do inform your rheumatologist and oncology and ask them to coordinate your treatment.

Best wishes xx

I am so sorry to hear. Scanxiety (scan anxiety) is a real thing. Do you know what type of BC you have? Or are they still running tests?

Hopefully your scan(s) will not show any additional cancer. I have read many are able to get great results of shrinking tumors by adhering to a low-glycemic diet working on a metabolic approach. Something I wish I would have known/tried before my bilateral prophylactic mastectomy (BPM). So sorry for the bad news.
