Hi I've been diagnosed with triple neg three weeks ago. Starting chemo Thursday and my dr is not interested In Other treatment. All quackery he says. He's happy for me to take tumeric caps which I am. It's like getting a ticket on a steam train . I'm yet to connect with an integration dr . But it's 4. Hours from where I live and could be a bit hectic with four kids in toe.
I'm thinking I want to do both. So much negativity with chemo and radio now with so many people on thenatural bandwagon which is great but now I'm faced with it and it's aggressive it's hard not to go with the Advice from my Dr and the alternatives canaboidal oil is illegal so hard to get. One lady posted to me that chemo has stats of 2% Successful. I find that hard to believe why would drs want to give it if that were true.
What are others doing just need to know I'm heading towards wellness with my choices.
I'm trying to do a alkaline diet but it's tough sometimes to get in enough food I lost one Kilo when I did it properly for three days.
Long post sorry xxxx

Hi,I don't know anything about the natural approach to triple negative cancer because it responds really well to chemotherapy, so my oncologist told me.My treatment for triple negative breast cancer was 24 weeks of chemotherapy, small operation and radiotherapy. My personal experience was a complete pathological response to the chemotherapy leaving no trace of cancer cells and my lump was gone after my 3rd treatment so I would go with the advice of your doctor and do the chemotherapy, it is hard going but the results have been proven beyond doubt.Definitely look in to alternative methods but the research proves that the chemotherapy works well with this type of cancer.good luck with your treatment.Vicky. x
I guess its the immune system we want to boost. It has been suggested to eat royal jelly but its not something I understand. Vit C good for radiptherapy but medicines and some Chemo say avoid grapefruit, so I limit citrus. I dont know what we can take in its place beside Vit D. So interested to see replys here!
The grapefruit reacts to a certain enzyme, there are quite a few drugs that you can't eat them, so not all citrus fruits, but ones that are more related to grapefruit like the ugly fruit as well.
My hubby knows a lot about medical stuff, the first things he always says is what evidence have these alternative therapys published? What results to double blind tests etc, because that is what proper drugs have to go through.
Now I am not saying don't do nothing for yourself, but be careful there is a lot of stuff on the internet that frankly is rubbish. I have changed by diet and lifestyle as there is some evidence to suggest that some changes can help lessen your risk. I don't eat meat and diary basically, I have soya milk and fish and lots of fruit and veg, try not to have much sugar and all the bad things cakes etc. I feel a lot better for it, and don't suffer with many side effects of the drugs I am taking. There is evidence that too much meat in our diet increases risk for various cancers, milk producers have increased the milk yield of their cattle over the last 40 years by 50% using hormones, so for me that isn't natural and good for humans, at the end of the day milk is produced by an an Animal for its baby not for humans, and has a lot of growth hormones in it already, without more being pumped into it by farmers.
At the end of the day the choice is yours, good luck
Hello I'm triple negative and I'm just about to have my fourth chemo on Friday, I've had an ultrasound and the lump has already shrunk by half, another ultrasound at the end of the month, I would definitely go down the chemo route even though it's been a struggle for me with depression and being put on antidepressants I think the chemo is the better option with triple negative. Hope it all goes well.x
Hi, I was diagnosed with triple neg bc on 2nd Oct 2015. I had lots of people giving me statistics, trying to push me to go from one natural practitioner to another. It was like a barrage of information, much of it misleading. I chose to tell them all to back off. I chose to listen to those in the know, my oncologist and his team. I had three tumours two being very deep, It had also gone to my lymph nodes. On Jan 5th 2016, I had a double mastectomy and lymph node removal. On analysing the removed tissue, they found residual cancer cells. I had a further 6.5 months of chemo (totalling 9.5 months altogether) and 25 sessions of radiotherapy. Yes chemo makes you feel unwell, lethargic and you lose your hair etc. However, I am now technically cancer free, there is no visual cancer. An eye is being kept on the residual cell count and I am doing well. I look and feel great. In my belief, there is no big conspiracy theory, these experts devote their lives to looking for a cure for us. I feel the person who gave you the 2% statistic was not only unprofessional, using scare tactics to sway you to opt for her/his treatments, but cruel, irresponsible and in all honesty stupid. No professional in the world would do that to someone in your situation. You do what you feel is right for you. There are many of us on this forum who are TNBC, and thankfully, still this side of the grass and all being treated by our oncologist. I wish you all the luck in the world. Remember, you decide dont let 'fanatics' and scare mongerers do it for you. Lainey66 xxx
As others have said, there is little evidence that alternative treatments work. You also can't alkalise your body as the ph range for a healthy body is very narrow. Best to avoid Rick Simpson and his rubbish claims.
Going natural....sounds good doesn't it? Sounds wholesome and healthy and makes me want to wear yoga pants. Won't save you from cancer but it sounds lovely.
I've been sickened by the abuse and guilt I've had to deal with when I was mid treatment. The bullshit advice from people and the insinuations that somehow my lifestyle bought on my cancer. The sheer amount of conflicting conspiracy theories and lies touted on pretty Pinterest pins made me a shrieking harpy. The "evidence" of a friend who ate clean and is in total remission never surfaced.
Fact is you've got a vicious cancer. It moves fast and wants to spread to your other organs. The chemo is scorced earth. You're going to get burnt to the ground to get a total response. It's brutal.
Eat what you feel like eating. Sleep when you feel like sleeping, walk as often as you can. Don't accept anecdotal evidence as fact. Listen to your Oncologist. Get loads of protein.
You're having curative treatment. Now remember the "whole foods" industry is also about touting for business. They spread lies and misinformation to get you to buy their products the same way the tobacco industry and pharmacological industries have and do. They are in the business of making money by creating a safe space for "enlightened" people. Be a decerning consumer and read double blind studies from various academic institutions on these so called Mirical cures. Don't trust me...I'm a voice in the dark. Read and understand the strict protocols around studies into drug efficacy. Once you get that then you're likely to give some and indeed most alternate therapies the side eye.
I was diagnosed triple neg 2013 had the works lumpectomy chemo and radio I told my oncologist I didn't need to discuss statistics and percentages of recurrence would I be the 2 ,,20 or more pecent at risk ,who knew all I knew was I wanted to live and wanted her to throw everything at me to get the best possible chance I wanted to take whatever
So glad I did I,m still here
I did acces the alternative support from the haven centre the herbalist was great and a couple of pick me up mixtures I felt helped with the chemo
I took turmeric and medicinal mushrooms prescribed by herbalist , psychologically helped me felt I was fighting any future cancer cells roaming around
I did the massages sauna spa days after my treatment and it helped me feel good, there are those that say you can't do any of that
I did all the cutting out etc but I'm back eating and drinking the nice things all in moderation I look around and think Health freaks get cancer and those who drink and smoke don't so who knows
All I know is I'm gonna enjoy still been here and that's all we can do and I am glad I followed my oncologist advice and will grab whatever going .triple neg is not like others so needs all the attack it gets grab wat they offer and take each day at a time
Agree with all you others keep going and enjoy life
Thankyou. I've been told to avoid the mushroom tinctures etc for now till chemo over . I've been really healthy most of my life. Even more so in the last year. It definately is random . X
You get so many people, particularly on Facebook, who encourage people to reject conventional treatments and will post dubious statistics to prove their point. One chap posted statistics that showed most people died after having chemo. The trouble was his figures were from the 1940s! I don't see a problem with people using alternative treatments alongside conventional treatments, but I think it dangerous and irresponsible to encourage people to reject conventional treatments. There is one lady who seems to pop up on every cancer site stating chemo kills and encouraging people to use cannabis.
