Has anyone else experienced really awful pain even years after surgery? I had a mastectomy, node clearance and then a reconstruction between 2012 and 2013

I had a double mastescomy and left axilla node clearance in Jan this year. I chose not to have any reconstruction at all. now and again I get a dart of pain but that is all, however, there is a discomfort - as though I am wearing an overly tight bra, that has not eased or reduced. Lainey xx

How do feel about going flat. I've had a masectomy and I'm considering a second as I want to be balanced.

I am very happy with my choice. I cannot see the point of reconstruction. For me, it was a process of Making me look 'normal' for other people, I cannot see what other purpose they would serve and it is a lot to go through after an already difficult battle. I swim, wear nice clothing and Nope, I do not wear the padded bras. This, to me, is my new body form, I am happy with it, I am alive and that is what counts more than anything. Yes, going flat for me was the right decision. I hope I have helped you. 😊😊 Good luck in your choice. You choose what you think is right for you xxx

I agree ... You have to go with what is right for yourself ... Not for what others think .. Either going flat or wearing prosthesis . X

Yes, I had a double mastectomy September 2015 nodes were clear and no reconstruction and have various kinds of pain I understand this is normal. Sometimes it aches and recently a stabbing pain. Marina x

Hi Rusena, had mastectomy in 2012-013 with diep reconstruction, and yes I do still get a lot of pain in my reconstruction, and all around the chest area, they say it's scar tissue, I also get lot of burning in my nipple replacement, ? Also on tomoxiphen, so don't know if it's that, have you been checked ? Xx

Yes I still get a lot of pain I had my op and mode clearance November 2014 was signed off at the hospital clinic last week after having a scan around chest and under arm to make sure there was nothing unusual that shouldn't be there after telling the doctor if the pain I get, now it's just a yearly mammogram. I just try to keep active and put it to the back if my mind and am thankful for getting my life back but accept I will never be the same as I was pre breast cancer

I had a mastectomy on 2nd June 2016 and a second mastectomy on 14th October 2016, I am still getting a lot of pain, feel like a bit of a wimp, also had a lumpectomy and rads in 2010. I think I'm expecting to feel better too quickly, still very tired and sore at present.

I'm considering a second masectomy. I don't want to go through reconstructive surgery. Do you have any regrets deciding to go flat?

Hi ..in 2010 I had a double mastectomy ,total lymph node removal on the left side and partial on the right ...Chemo & radiotherapy ... I still get pains ..like stabbing or sharp needles .. But it has got less often over time .. I never like being negative but if some one asks the question I think I should be honest ... 💖

Hi there I had a reconstruction after mastectomy in 2012 and have really struggled with it as I get a lot of nerve pains especially at night. I am about to have a ct scan to check everything is ok but I suspect my body just doesn't like the implant. I also get pain around the node clearance too so I wonder if this is just how it is? They don't tell you this in advance do they?

I am scared I wanted reconstruction for myself but all this talk of pain has made me think I don't know what is right and what to do.
