Hi there. When you say a cable was put in what do you mean exactly? That is something new to me. You will have to phone your breast clinic to see how long it will be. Good luck with all your treatment. Lainey66 x

The 'cable' sounds like a trace wire to mark the spot so the surgeon knows exactly where the lump is.

I don't know exactly best to ask the breast unit, it maybe like the previous person said the metal marker is put in so they know where lump is, as I reckon they are hoping the letrozole may shrink the lump, and just in case it does make it very small maybe?

Write down lots of questions, so when you go you are prepared. One of the best things you can do is know exactly what you are dealing with, and your options.

Good luck and when you find out more, always ask on here as there will be someone who has gone through the same. Xx

Hello. Sorry to hear your news but we are all here for you .AUgust seems a while back so eliminate all your concerns call the breast care nurses first thing Monday or can you call today and leave a message so you will be first on the call back on Monday so they can look into for you . Get ready for the call back and perhaps write down your top three concerns so you can ask.going through all this can be hard enough but if we can eliminate some areas of concerns and worries we can all concentrate on the good .Take care and let us know how you get on .

When I had an ultrasound they said they could see the metal markers ..I said what metal markers ...I just thought the injection in breast highlighted the lump ..I did ask if they took them out and they said no so I will be like metal Mickey 😀 for those of you who remember him ! Must have drifted off when they told me about that part of it ..

Hi. As regards the cable, my Mum had one out in as a marker, I think. They said it would work it's way out over time. I assume as you had an operation you probably had a lumpectomy?? It sounds as though the Letrozole is your treatment and that the pathology on your breast was clear. Sometimes we come out of an appointment and realise that we have not 'heard' everything they have said. Youbwoukd still need a follow-up appointment. Please ring your breast care nurse's to clear your mind. Let us know how you get on. By the way, you don't have to apologise forposting on this site - that is what we are here for xx

Letrozole must be your treatment. So you didn't need chemotherapy nor radiotherapy? Have you had the lymph nodes under your armpit checked? Then you might be one of the lucky ones who don't develop lymphoedema!

Good luck with your treatment.

Don't quite understand the order they follow as I was given to take tablets after I had the radiation but the oncologist has given you to take the tablets before you start proper treatment.

When you speak to the nurses ask them what you can do also to prevent developIng lymphoedema. I just noticed one day that I had it, to start with in the breast, and then I discovered it in the arm as well.

THE TABLETS ARE FOR TO REDUCE SOME SORT IN MY BODY BEFORE TREATMENT ,I KEEP RINGING UP EVERY WEEK TO MY CANCER NURSE NOW SHE HAS PASSED INFORMATION OVER TO ANOTHER NURSE CALLED HELEN

What seems puzzling is that they tell you to take medicine for 5 years and at the end of the 5 years, they will send you have chemotherapy?

What about radiotherapy as not everyone is sent to have chemo.

First of all, I wish you good luck with the radiotherapy. I also had 15 sessions (5 sessions per week x by 3). Nowadays, they want women after the surgery to take the medicine not for 5 but for 10 years. What have they suggested for you to take? Most probably it's either Anastrozole or Letrazole? Or is it Tamoxifen?

Yes i will start my treatment in 2 weeks time and it will be from Monday --friday ,for 3 weeks and on tablets of Letrozole for 10 years
