I had my diagnosis on the 2nd Oct last year and needed my histology report for my insurance, I told my consultantat the time and he said that he would have it for me the following week. It was actually two weeks later, tey also faxed it to my gp for me to collect.

Thanks. But isn't it what the oncologist needs to know how to treat.? My gf had a mastectomy last week and we're anxious.

Have you requested the histology report? I may be wrong but i thought they had to have that before beginning treatment in order to know how to treat it. Mine arrived a week before any treatment began.

I would imagine this happens everywhere, but I can't be sure, but here in Bristol the Multi Disciplinary Team meet and discuss each patient and what their treatment plan is to be, so when I moved onto Oncology they knew all the details on my cancer and what treatment to give me, I'm sending best wishes to you both, stay strong for each other x

It's the waiting again which is very frustrating. I would think that at least 2 weeks would needed. The tests take time and then discussions take place. If more treatment is required, it would not be done straight away as the surgery site needs to recover. If it is really stressing you both, maybe your girlfriend could speak to her breast care nurse for reassurance. Hope all is good news

My histology took 10 days but then had to be discussed with the multidiscilinary team, who met every week, to discuss next steps... So in reality it was jst over 2 weeks... Waiting game probably seems longer. Be strong and sending you best wishes for a positive outcome.

Mine took a week, only because the head person had to sign off the report going to the oncologist. Hopefully yours may be quicker. Good luck.

Hi KS I think it really varries from hospital to hospital they all do things a bit differently. I had my biopsy on 28 Sept and results on 6 Oct. so only about a week. I then had my surgery on 28 Oct and results on 9 Nov the day after the mult disciplinary meeting with treatment plan for radiotherapy and tamoxifen. Hope this helps. It's the worse bit the waiting and if your girlfriend is very anxious then chat to her breast care nurse as others have suggested too. Stay strong you will both get through this x

Hey, as everyone says it varies..but think on average it's around 2 weeks, which seems like an eternity. Stay strong and great that you're supporting your girlfriend in this way.
