Have you tried ringing the hospital to see if they can bring your appointment forward, just remember we've all been where you are and the waiting is certainly one of the hardest parts of the journey, once you know what your problems are (it may NOT BE cancer) you'll find life possibly not better for a while but easier xxxxx

I had a biopsy in dec 2013 i had to wait a week to go back for my reults which i got just before xmas that year. The waiting is the worst part as your mind goes into overdrive.I was diagnosed with breast cancer but whatever your diagnosis(it may be nothing) you will get through it, its not easy at times but positivity definitely helps. Wishing you luck xxx

Hi

There is no point in me telling you not to worry but do try and get thru 1 day at a time it's no good trying to 2nd guess wot the result will be the only thing u can do is wait I kept thinking good throughout for 2 wks until my diagnosis day even then I still didn't believe it

But if the worst happens there is absolutely nothing you can do just put yr trust I those who will look after you ask as many questions as you want to and if it turns out you will be going on a BC journey just take 1 day at a time you cannot change what will be but working yourself up into a state is not good for your mental and physical health

Hugs Diane

When I had my biopsy in February this year, I was told it would take 5 to 7 business days. It's my first biopsy ever. It took about that long. I'm in the US. Yes, I had cancer.

When talking with friends while I was going through this, some of my friends have had several biopsies but they didn't turn up any cancer. In my case, I knew there was a chance for cancer as it took longer than usual for the doctor to review my ultrasound film.

I agree that there is no sense in getting yourself in a state until you get your results.

Hug from me as well

Yes but did u have a lump in the first place ?? As I don’t

No, no lump. I have dense tissue and this time it looked different enough to call for a biopsy. Even after confirmation, no one could feel any lump. It was very small.

I know it's frustrating but it's best to have all tests done on any lumps ,bumps ,shadow or pain than the alternative.my sister had a small dent and didn't notice until she went for bra fitting .xx

lizalily in reply toRedwine50

And did your sister have cancer ?

Redwine50 profile image
Redwine50 in reply tolizalily

Yes but the eldest sister has had 3lots of biopsy s and cancer scares and she never had cancer.but all 3of us have yearly check ups.please don't be scared with what ifs?x

If I can’t go ahead with going to get my results what happens then ? Will they post them out ? As I really don’t think I can go plus have nobody to come with me .

Hi Lizalily, I also live in the U.K, I also didn't feel a lump just a very small dent/pucker of skin at the side of my left breast, my GP she didn't feel a lump, but when I went to breast clinic, there it was a little round marble shaped thing had shown up on mammogram and ultrasound, I was in shock!!! I'm only 42yr, my results took a week , the following Friday, Yes it was Cancer, but when my Consultant told me what we were going to do to sort this problem out, things got easier, I had Lumpectomy not so bad, and I'm now awaiting Radiotherapy, if it is BC it's very treatable, if you read some of my first posts I'm a nervous wreak, it was the hardest time of my life, but now I'm near the end chapter of this journey, I'm already booked in next year for first mammogram and Consultant visit, but I'm doing Ok!! You will too xx good luck xx

It took mine a week last October I’m in the midlands I found the lump myself I was 48 then. Went back a week later had cancer had surgery the following Monday then didn’t get clear margins so had to have more tissue removed all clear that time. My surgeon told me he was amazed I found it as it was so deep said many a doctor would have missed it in just touch. Had radiotherapy Dec/Jan 2017/8. Started on tamoxifen didn’t agree with me had to have my ovaries removed in April to give me the menopause so I am now on anastrazole. At the end of the day we all do what we have to to beat this. It’s not easy but it’s doable the worst is the waiting. Good luck let us know how you get on x

I’m terrified I had it done last Monday. Not heard anything yet but I’m susposed to be going on Friday I don’t know if I can go there x

Hi there. I know exactly what you are going through. I was diagnosed last November. The waiting for the bioosy results nearly killed me although they told me on the day of them that they were pretty sure it was cancer. I couldn't eat or sleep for the week not knowing what lay ahead for me but once I went into the room to get the results a calmness came over me and I knew I could do this!! You will be fine too pet and with any luck you may not even have cancer but you are so lucky to have this picked up so early if it is. Try to stay calm because you will need to focus on Friday when you go for your results. Will be thinking of you xx

lizalily in reply toKnockane

Well the surgeon said she personally didn’t think it was anything bad but it needed to be checked as it was a shadow had it done last Monday so it’s over a week now here I’m praying it will be ok . Thanks for the kind words xx

Took one week for me. I called Dr office daily.

My Doctor refuses to discuss biopsy reports over the phone, you have to wait until your followup appointment. She explained that if it got around that she calls if it is good news then ladies are second guessing the results if they don't get a call, so she calls no-one. I know this is easy for me to say (diagnosed with BC twice) but you WILL survive this!! Breast cancer is one of the easiest to treat and one of the most researched cancers. Just remember 1 in 3 women will be diagnosed with breast cancer so there are many thousands of us survivors out there so you are one of an elite group. Also you may NOT have cancer.

Just want to say a huge thankyou for all your support from all you lovely ladies . I had my results yesterday and it’s not cancer but I’ve got periductal mastitis. Which surgeon doesn’t understand why as I’m not presenting symptoms of it. But I’ve been put on a strong doze of antibiotics for a week and have to go back next Friday to see her superior surgeon for another scan and possibly another biopsy which I’m not to happy about as don’t want to go through it again x
