Love reading the posts in here , it's been a great help and I wish I had found it sooner . Just wondering how many Irish / living in Ireland folk are on here ? I'm Valerie and I live in Dublin . 😊
Where are we all from? : Love reading... - My Breast Cancer ...
Where are we all from?
Hey there Valerie. In in Co. Wicklow back in St. Vincents on wed for my third rounded of chemo 🙄🙄
Hi, not Irish unfortunately, could listen to the accent for hours, so lovely. I'm a Yorkshire lass, just outside of York in north Yorkshire x
I'm a Geordie, Newcastle upon Tyne😊xB
Lainey I'm with professor Kennedy in James 😊 Finished treatment thank god except for tamoxifen and I'm down for reconstruction on my left breast but I'm still not sure if I'll go ahead with it . Best of luck with the chemo (ugh) .
Cazlav and wobbly bee , sure there's not even an ocean between us , only a little sea 😊😊
Hi Valerie. I'm under Mr Geraghty for surgery and Professor Crown and Dr Gullo for Chemo in St. Vincents. I had a double mastectomy on the 5th Jan this year and have decided not to have reconstruction. Residual cells were found so I had to have more chemo. I had TC chemo before surgery, I finished AC chemo two weeks ago and start CMF chemo next Wednesday along with radiotherapy a couple of weeks after that! Oh the joys 😜😜
I am in South Alabama, about ten miles from the Gulf of Mexico.
Hi Valerie, I'm born in bred in Bristol
Wow kewpie that's a bit of a hike from here 😊
Indeed it is. The first of my immigrant ancestors made the voyage three times. He left Cornwall for the Virginia Colony in 1630. He returned to Cornwall to bring back with him to Virginia a family member, and then they stayed in the Virginia Colony. I had other ancestors from Ireland and Scotland.
My following the Pernicious Anaemia Society had me on HealthUnlocked already, so when I was newly diagnosed with breast cancer, I joined The Haven also, for more connection.
That's a great family history !!!
Hi Valerie I,m from Stoke on Trent my late husband was born in enniscorthy wish I,d found this site sooner too! It's great to talk to someone who,s been there too .lots of lovely people giving support and advice✊💞xxx Jan
Your so right janny ! And no matter how well meaning people are , including family members , they just don't " get" it . I know my gang think it's all over now and I should be back to normal , but as we all know it's not quite that simple 😊
Hi Valerie, I'm from Doncaster in South Yorkshire, my Grandads side of the family are from Ireland a little town called Newry. I've visited Dublin a few times and completed the Dublin Marathon in 2007, the atmosphere was fab 😆
I too am glad I found this site, it's been a great support, as you said family members don't always "get it" as much as they try to understand, it's hard if you've not been through it yourself.!
Xxx
Hi Valerie. I'm Emily and live in Highclere (think Downton Abbey) near Newbury in Berkshire.
This forum has been a great source of comfort, inspiration, laughs and tears for me and I'm so glad you have found the same.
Women who come together to support one another create something unique and special.
If anyone needs inspiration may I refer you to Master Chef final last night on BBC 1 where Jane who had come through the other side of cancer for 10 years won! Such a humble and lovely woman.
Sending sunshine to you all today 🌞 wherever you are in the world 🌍.
Xxx
Sounds like a beautiful place Emily
Hi Valerie, I'm from Just outside Chester accross the North Wales border. Originally from Manchester. ( the red side) Grew up in Sale about 6 miles south of the city centre. Just waiting now for my 1 year results. TNBC so a bit stressed at the moment. All the best to everyone. X
Ah try not to stress too much Chris xx I try to think in terms of " what will be will be and then we move forward "
Good luck Chris. I'm TNBC too and it is worrying. However try not to stress (easier said than done) 👍👍
Where outside of Chester are you I am in Connah,s quay in Flintshire

Has anyone had their hair bleached blond all over I'm a few years post treatment now but my hair is so course and wavy I've kept it cropped but since been 16 I was always blonde and had a Bob I love the crop but struggling with not been blonde
I know I should be happy after wat I've been through and you are all gonna be right but it's weird cos it's just not me,I'm am so pale and the dark hair makes me still look ill its thinning and due to the menopause after treatment but I want something done with it seen all the posts on conditioners etc gonna try them
Any advice besides leave it alone
Hi Nicholjac , I'm the reverse in that mine was long and dark and straight and shiny and now it's short , curly and blond !! I'm struggling with the new me and I do miss my dark hair but to dye it dark would be a nightmare to maintain with roots ! So I'm learning to live with it . Xxx
Hi honey I waited for a couple of years after my hair came in before going back to colour on advice of hairdresser, but as it came in I kept getting it cut every 6 weeks and that made it look thicker. If you are a few years post treatment you should be fine, how about going for half head or low lights to try out first?
Hi Valerie I'm from Dudley in the west midlands I'm waiting to start my radiotherapy on 19th may and I also start Tamoxifen the same day x
Oh best of luck with that Batey . The radiotherapy is at worst uncomfortable . It's not bad at all and very doable ! It's quite tiring in that you are going every day . Just make sure you use absolutely nothing but simple soap for washing and aqueas cream for moisturising . I did it religiously and no deodorant at all ! And I didn't burn or get an skin damage and I had 25 sessions on each breast xxx
Hi Valerie, I live in Pembrokeshire, Wales. I'm coming to Dublin for a hen party(prospective daughter in law) at end of October. Am staying on for a couple of days would be great if we could meet for a coffee. Please keep in touch.
Hi Valerie. I was born in Hartlepool but moved to the Midlands when I was 5. I'm living in Birmingham now. My grandfather was from Kerry
Hi Valerie I am in Chelmsford Essex and am now 6.5 years past my diagnosis and getting married in june, just hang on on there. I only found this site a few months ago and find it very useful.
And great being able to share my experiences with others.
No connections with Ireland except my maiden name (Lodge) is supposedly Irish but no connections on my ancestry tree. Originally I am from Sheffield but have lived in Warwickshire since being married 45 years ago next week. Have recently finished a second bout of radiotherapy. I see the Oncologist on Monday to see how things are - presumably he will send me for a CT scan. It is good to hear where people are from - perhaps that should be included with our 'name' (administrator please note).
That's a great idea Chrissie 😊
Hi I'm Tracey and I live in Elgin, which is in the North East of Scotland. I got my treatment in Aberdeen. This page has been a godsend. X

Good morning ladies. I live in Co Louth in Ireland 🇮🇪💚 Very proud to be a 3 year breast cancer survivor, although it is not always easy. Great article in the Guardian (UK) yesterday about the difficulties of being a cancer survivor. Busy caring for my mother who has terminal lung cancer, trying to teach and look after 4 kids and wonderful husband. Will share my story soon. #foffcancer 👭💖👭💖
