Hi Harisr,

I have never heard of GCA but sure enough there is a Wiki reference to Giant Cell Arteritis complete with pictures, treatment options etc.

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Giant...

It seems a bit serious but you should seek independent, qualified professional advice to ensure that your treatment decisions are consistent with the applicable standards of care for the condition.

This GCA stuff most of us on the site know nothing about. We are experts with lived experiences of mental health issues. That's why I looked at the website for guidance. GCA seems to come in different forms so maybe Google a bit more.

Like I said, get it checked out by a doctor. If you have and if you are not satisfied with the explanation, get a second opinion or asked to be referred to a specialist who is an expert in the condition. You also have the right to ask more questions about your condition. Just remember no two cases are exactly the same.

You said you were 17 so all of this might be too much to take in on your own. Do you have someone who can come with you for the next doctor's appointment? This person sometimes hears things that you miss out because you so worried (this has happened to me before and I am 3 times your age).

Wishing you all the best

GCA- at the age of 17 is unlikely.

Typical symptoms of GCA are tingling and tenderness around that area. It's typically an old person disease.

Blood serology can check for GCA or biopsy.

Either way if you are concerned then see a medical professional

If you go onto the PMR GCA forum of health unlocked you will find a lot of people with vast experience of GCA and they should be able to help you. Hope you get it sorted.
