Late period

Hi, I'm in need of some advice I'm 39 and currently 6 days late. I've done a hpt and got a negative result I don't have any AF or pregnancy symptoms. Could I be pregnant even with a negative result or could it be something else?

It is possible. Everyone is different and with some women it does take longer for a positive test to appear due to varying levels of hpt, or you could have ovulated later on in the cycle.

I would wait a couple more days and test again.

Hi there

Generally a pregnancy test is accurate once a period is late. Often it is best to wait a few more days and repeat the test, as you can get a false negative result if a sample is too diluted (so use the first pee of the day), or tested too early when the urine hormone level is still too low. If you continue to be concerned contact your GP.

I hope this helps.

Best wishes

Katherine
