Vaginal itching.

Hey guys! Im 17weeks pregnant, since I knew about this preganancy thing 12weeks ago i've been experiencing vaginal itching and burning as well as yellowish discharge, I did papSmear, checked infections and syphillis the results came back non-reactive like doctors said everything is fine, i drank antibiotics, used canex x and V but nothing seem to work... its uncomfortable what should I do because my doctor said its hormonial changes, guys please help!!

Hi there

Antibiotics can cause yeast infections such as Thrush, as do hormone changes, as we are from the UK I’m not sure if you have already used a Thrush treatment (Canestan in the UK) pessary and 2% cream? If you haven’t in England you can buy it from a pharmacy, so that might be the place to start, if not I would advise going back to see your doctor for a different Thrush treatment.

So isnt it harmful to my unborn baby? coz ive been struggling with it since im pregnant?

Hi there

Clotrimazole is generally considered safe for pregnant women to use. If you are using the pessary to treat vaginal thrush during pregnancy it is recommended that you insert it with your fingers rather than with the applicator provided. It is very common for pregnant women to suffer from thrush. If you are worried it is best to consult your doctor or midwife who will advise you as to whether treatment is recommended.
