Help!!

I went to the maternity assessment centre. I went with a lot of cramp and they did an internal swab? Should they be doing that this early? I'm almost 18 weeks. Is that not dangerous to the baby? I also went for a scan and they couldn't find the bladder or something and had to wait half an hour to go back for another. I thought this appt would ease my mind but now I'm a bit more worried ... I've googled it can cause miscarriage??? I've had a lot of cramping since and I'm really scared. During the exam it was really painful and I kept squirming and moving away! Is it suppose to be like that??

Hi there

Try not to worry, as the swab would have been quite low down in your vagina. I would get in touch with your doctor or midwife so they can explain exactly what the test was for and tell them your worries, as looking things up on the internet often makes things worse, go and talk to your healthcare professional.

I hope this helps

Best wishes

Katherine
