hey iv bee abit worried a year and a half ago I caught chlamydia but got treatment only today I found im positive

I haven't had sex since a year and a half ago im abit worried it didn't get treated properly and it can cause infertility with it being here for over a year just wondering can I still have kids !!

Hi Annabel,

I completely understand why you are worried, but it's important to know that the vast majority of women who have had chlamydia will not have any difficulties conceiving that are related to the infection. There may be a greater chance of chlamydia affecting fertility if you have repeated infections or if it goes untreated for a very long time and causes a condition called Pelvic Inflammatory Disease (PID) - but this is a separate condition that a doctor would diagnose and even then many women who have had a diagnosis of PID will go on to have babies.

Did you mention your concerns about your fertility with the doctor / nurse who did your recent test or is providing your treatment? It might be worth having a chat with them about it.
