hi,I was diagnosed with bowel cancer in 2010,had surgery & a course of chemo(included carrying a pump around for 2 days),6 months later,it had spread to liver, involved further successful surgery, only to reappear 1yr later.Surgery again successful.Unsure of drugs taken, there were sooo many.Best of everything to you.Keep smiling

I was diagnosed with bowel cancer . I was operated at Portsmouth and Poole . Brilliant . Unfortunately cancer was in other places . Not picked up in MRI and ct scans . This is more specialized . I looked up on Internet and found Royal Free hospital offers Gallium pet scan . I then asked for a referral to there . Al part of ourpatients charter . I was referred and had the gallium scan . I have got cancer in my liver, rib, scapula , pubus ramus , side wall Of pelvis and two lymph nodes . I am having Lanreotide injection next week . This is a growth hormone inhibitor as my cancer is neuro endocrine tun ours .,treatable this way . You need to be totally informed so look up everything to do with your cancer . If it isn't neuro endocrine . Go to the Royal Marsden either at Sutton or Chelsea . If it is go to Royal free hospital at hampstead . I'm lucky I'm able to drive but the train is easy too . Lots of luck . Xx

How are doing ? I have just had the same diagnosis .its s bit daunting isn't it ? However I'm going through the motions with Lanreotide injections every four weeks but that's for NETS . I don't know if they are appropriate over the dhole range of bowel cancers .  I referred myself to the Royal Free hospital as they were specialists in my type of cancer .. Neuro endocrine tumours . Royal Marsden hospital U.S. One if the best in the world .. You have  the right under the NHS patient charter  to be referred for treatment so take control .. Easier said that done but you need to have the best there is available . Stay In touch , please .

What type of cancer to you have , what is the cancer staged at ? What is the survival rate ? What is the treatment ? What is the strategy ? These are all the questions you need answers too . Also be referred to bowel and bladder people .  They are brilliant and will give you the nappies etc . See the Macmillan people they can help with attendance allowance etc . Let me know how you get in .
