Raloxifene side effects

Have been one Raloxifene for 3 months and the nausea has been really bad. Also, so very tired, falling asleep every day. Lot of vision problems, some double vision and some blurred vision.

Has anyone else experienced these side effects, did you persevere and did they go away. I think 3 months is probably enough to try it out.

Thanks

Sounds awful , I’d feel the same way. I tried Eventity for 3 months and had to stop it , didn’t have half the side effects your experienceing.

Hi GrandmaSkunk you mentioned you had been on Eventy for 3 mnth but had to come off it. Can I ask what your reasons were as I have been advised to start them. For now I have decided not to at the moment. Thanks

5 days after the injection my tummy became really upset , sour, it settled down about 5 days prior to the next injection. My consultant initially told me no one else on her list had experienced this so I continued for 3-4 months with exactly the same experience so I’ve stopped the injections. This side effect is not mentioned in the leaflet . Everyone is different, you may not have any lasting side effects . I was gutted I couldn’t handle it .

"Gastrointestinal symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain and stomach upset" are mentioned here as a very common side effect: medicines.org.uk/emc/produc...

So sorry to hear you have been suffering side effects which sound horrible. It would be great it you could find the time/energy to report your findings here: yellowcard.mhra.gov.uk/ Not enough patients use the Yellow Card to report side effects when taking prescribed drugs/injections.

Very pleased you did report it. Thank you. You are a star. ⭐ So sorry it did not suit you. We are all different. The only way to find out is to try. Not always ideal I know.

That sounds awful. You can look up side effects and compare those to what you're suffering. I would definitely talk to your GP soonest. The medicine should not be worse than the ailment! I have a lot of your symptoms and I'm not on Raloxifene, I put mine down to M.E relapse, gut issues or a bug. 🤷‍♀️ But yours sound drug induced so maybe it just doesn't suit you? Best wishes. 🤗

Just noticed a note from Bone Health below, perhaps they can help too?

Thanks everyone for the replies. I cannot tolerate the Raloxifine any more, but could not tolerate low dose A Acid, or Actonel either. Darent take Forteo, I did it for 6 months and developed MGUS, I managed the 12 months of Evenity, but probably lost most of the gains by now as I havent been able to tolerate anything. Wont take Prolia ever due to rebound fractures, so I am going to try HRT and good diet and supplements and hope they produce something better for us all (more tolerable) before I end up in a wheelchair (already had 5 fractures in spine which have now healed). BTW fraid, I have M.E. too (for 30 years now) I am sure it doesnt help and makes us more med sensitive.
