I´ve been joined this community for only 8 months and I have learned a lot. I´m so gratefull for some of you that take time to answer our questions and gives hope and encouraging mesages.
Sorry if I my grammar is not perfect, but English is not my mother language.
I use to read all the comments here but sometimes it is difficult to conclude or to take as a reference, since most of the time we dont know the age of the people who wrote or their scores, I mean how severe or not is their osteoporosis or osteopenia.
It would be more usefull for me if for exemple when someone says:" I´ve reverted or I stoped my osteoporosis progress in xx years, just with exercises, eating healthy, vitamins etc.." and also saying I started this change when my DEXA was around -3,0 and now it is -2,5 for exemple, I have xx years old and so on. I know this varies a lot from person to person but have this as reference it is important.
I´m trying to write down all the return of experience you guys says here, and most of the time I miss more personal data. So please when I often ask what is someon age or when I asle about their T scores, no take it as a intrusion.
Thanks to all

I often wonder why doctors don't take into consideration a patients size when they prescribe medication. It seems to be always a standard dose, whether you are a petite or over 6ft etc. or is it just me ??
True, but if you are short and thin, it is my understanding that you will have more problems with osteoporosis, so that when writers tell us what went right or wrong, their height and frame would be extremely useful.
I was more talking of why there is always a standard dose of medication, regardless of a patients size. Sure a smaller person might need less and a larger person more ?
Hi Verauk. I think most people on here would be willing to share their results etc especially as we share this condition to vastly varying degrees. I've mentioned my T scores in a previous post (femoral neck normal and lumber spine - 1.5) and usually these scores wouldn't be considered bad enough for medication. However, the larger picture needs to be considered. I am only 5ft 2 and a half and 8st in weight so have a small frame. I have a history of over-active thyroid but this has been treated & is well controlled, it's 15 years since my (easy) menopause but I've never taken hrt and probably my highest risk is that my mother had bad osteoporosis. My mother's lifestyle was very different to mine in that she was quite sedentary, smoked until she was 70 and the knowledge was not so readily available in those days. I asked for a DEXA scan after the menopause because of my thyroid problem and it was normal. I then never gave osteoporosis another thought until I had my fall. I eat very healthily and love to be active so my lifestyle has probably helped, but I'm aware that due to my genetics and profile that this disease could so easily progress. Obviously my bones are not the best quality as the fractures prove. So, this is why I've decided to try the medication as well. I only started last weekend but so far, so good. If I continue to tolerate it well , I'll keep going for 2-3 years then get another DEXA and take it from there. The only major change I've needed to make to my diet is to cut down my wine consumption 😏. I was drinking a couple of glasses a day with my dinner, not a large amount, but probably just over the recommended level. I'm still enjoying the occasional glass but much less. I'm beginning to sound like a saint, I can assure you I'm not 😁
corcho Very interesting what you've mention, and infact there are lots of other marks than just Dexa and age. However is better to have some than any...👍😀
Regarding your wine: the great grand mother of my husband, that died 15 years ago with 99, used to say: I dont drink water, only wine! And she really did...she had a diet based in pasta and meat broth( maybe this has saved her) and the worst of all, she was a passive smoker... Unfortunatly she never did a Dexa, she was short and thin and never exerciced. And never had a other healty problems...believe or not
