update on my X-ray and physio
Morning I got everything at once to. I was told I had fibromyalgia arthritis and osteoporosis I also suffer with EDS and scoliosis with kyphosis but that was a long time ago. Well just try to exercise and eat well good luck xxxx
Hi Kimlolly
So sorry to hear this and hope you are not in too much pain
I Have Osteoporosis diagnosed then about 9 mths after that was diagnosed with Axial Spondylitis. I thought it was the osteoporosis giving me neck and back pain but not the case. I do neck and back exercises as defined by NASS and these work well helping me to keep a good range of motion.
yes, I have both. By the time I was diagnosed with OP I’d had a history of tell tale signs- like hysterectomy at 36 (because of endometriosis), Several fractures (mostly due to accidents resulting from a chaotically dysfunctional life style). The OA is worst in my ankles (stage 4). OP treatment requires walking, but walking is very painful. I use Nordic poles. It’s all a balancing act……
Yes, I am awaiting gp appt after dexa and x rays/MRI, but it is clear I have both, with two neck vertebrae also having slipped 2mm.
Did you ever work intensively with computers?
Be careful how you use your phone and computer not to strain your neck more.
I find a circular neck hot water very helpful in the evening/night.
V best
sorry to hear no I haven’t always done cleaning jobs and worked in care home in laundry which I’m now wondering if caused my tinnitus 😂 constant dryers and washing machines on in a small room and yes I’m trying not to go in my iPad and phone as mush to stop the bending forward
Yes, always engage the core too. Had a duh! Homer simpson moment today when I realised I already engage the core when standing esp lifting, but I also need to do that when sitting to protect my lumbar spine.
How's your D level? Low D may contribute to inflammation in arthritis as well as directly to osteop. My guess is that these 2 conditions are far more connected than "science" has yet established.
Hi yes I have had arthritis in my neck for years and nothing helps so gave up physio. I also have Spondylitis and my spine is crumbling with Osteoporosis, so held up with lots of metal. Try not to twist and don't carry any weights even if quite light. My pain is about 7 out of 10 but must think positive and do as much as I still can. Walking short distances is very good especially with a 4 wheeled walker which makes you stand up straight whilst walking.
Good luck and keep trying.
I have arthritis as well as OP fractures, M.E etc! My head has started lolling to the right again when I sleep which does not help pain between shoulder blades etc. so starting to use neck support again. It really helps keep my neck straight overnight and warm so maybe would help you too? I don't do any physio ex. as make me much worse, just do gentle neck circles which I hope will stop it seizing up and joining my kyphosis, have still got good movement in it. Had reduced meds but so much pain now, having to increase them. 🤯
Hi Kimlolly.I seem to be in the same boat as you. I have suffered with cervical spondylitis in my neck for the last 7 years, with numbness in my hand and fingers. I had many steroid and nerve block injection in my neck, but it only lasts awhile. Tried physio, but that only helps for a bit. I've also got osteoporosis and osteopina in my spine and hip. Just managing all my symptoms with meds at the moment, but definitely don't want to rely on them for ever.
I hope you get the right help you need.
Let use know how you get on.
All the best.
