Corrective surgery

Hello.

I have posted my story in my profile.

My question is, has anyone here pursued an option of corrective surgery?

If so, I hope you had a good outcome. I would appreciate it if you could let me know how it went in time. I'm just facing the same thing.

The best of luck to everyone reading this,

Emersee

Corrective surgery for what? I went to a spine surgeon for a kyphosis/scoliosis evaluation. They volunteered that they would not do fusion because of my osteoporosis. I hadn't even asked. I was just there to get an idea of what state was and what options I had.

I am 62 and have scoliosis as well as kyphosis since very young child. I went when I was 12 many years ago lol and they refused me too due to danger of op saying that things are more advanced now.

Hello Sunnygirl69. Corrective surgery is surgery following spinal fusion where some portion of the hardware has failed. In my case, due to osteoporosis. So no, I don't mean kyphoplasty or vertebroplasty which are not corrective. I have - Adult Spinal Deformity.

What type of corrective surgery? I've had 10 kyphoplasty procedures...saved my spine. It did not put them back straight and pretty; I have 6 discs that are in stages of rupturing, 4 spine fusions already. You have to have medical necessity for all procedures, fusions require issues with discs diseases. So while they may correct the spine, it's not just a corrective surgery.

Hello Southerngirl2787,

Sorry to hear about your surgeries.

You and I are talking about different surgeries. Corrective is to correct issues that occur after spinal fusion whereby the construct fails for a number of reasons.

I seems nobody on this forum has had this surgery - and good, I hope nobody needs is!

Apologies for posting half a question!

I have osteoporosis and had a spinal fusion from T4 to L4 in 2022. Unfortunately L4 fractured 2 months later so now I have Adult spinal Deformity - quite bad kyphosis, scoliosis and my spine is also rotated. So the corrective surgery is like a revision of the original surgery but also extending into the pelvis and cutting away parts of the vertebrae (osteotomies) to straighten me. The spinal fusion was long surgery but this will be even bigger,
