starting Romosozumab soon

I am new to this forum and have just been reading the wealth of information about osteoporosis.. Thank god for what a wonderful group I can learn from. T12 fracture in Feb then 4 more lumbar fractures in March 30th 2024.

My GP whom is just the best ever contacted an endocrinologist and he suggested going right away to Romosozumab monthly injections. Will start as soon as Health Canada and cancer clinic approve. I've read almost everything anyone has posted on this forum. People having great results from this treatment and was impressed. Yes, I understand and have read about the side effects.

I have to trust advise from Dr cause I don't have a choice unless i want to fracture more.

3 yrs ago had a bone density scan and it showed -4 in spine but I declined meds and ate well, and took all necessary vitamins and exercises. However, with all the 4 cancers and treatments it has done damage to my bones. I am on zanubrutinib now for lymphoma/luekemia. 70 yrs old and weigh 100pds. Mentally I feel great , enjoy life and always see the positive . Just the way I am. It just comes naturally and I can only stay defeated for a few days then trying to figure out how to live with something by researching, reading etc.

I've been walking 3km a day and fractures are healing along with pain medication which does indeed help with pain. Another bone density scan has been requested .

Thanks again everyone for sharing the good and bad.

please keep us in touch with how the treatment goes for you. I have had to stop Teriparatide because the side effects were too bad, and am now left with choice of Zedronic Acid, Denudimab, or Romosozumab…… wishing you all the best!

I'm nervous, but I've tried everything to not go this route. Let me know what meds you decide on. We can compare notes

an endocrinologist told my Mum that the most gains in evenity are made in the first 9 months, and after that the graph line of gains levels out, just some info. you continue taking vitamin D and calcium supplement alongside evenity

a good G.p is key, hang on to them ... :)

also have a plan with what to follow the year of evenity, or part way through if it caused severe ill-effect

thanks for the comment. I appreciate it a lot. I have the bestest GP in the world, as she has went thro stomach cancer , shingles/PHN and lymphoma and leukemia return with me and now fractured disks. and she always , always gives me my opioids perscription without complaint. I take every 4 hrs as needed and i needed with the 5 fractures and I fractured the last L 2 disk 4 days ago, so I should be good for now, The T fracture is where the tumor is, so expected.

Thanks

yup, but not as much as I used to do. I used to walk 10 km with weights on my ankles and hands held ones. Walking is so therapeutic. thanks for commenting. Take care
