I would think you need to strengthen the muscles that support your bones. If I were you I would be looking for someone very well qualified (most likely a physiotherapist) in working with elderly osteoporotic patients for guidance. As to how you find that wonderful person in your area - I have no idea. My hospital has a fracture liaison nurse and a physiotherapist attached to that department, I didn’t use her for that problem but she was incredibly helpful when I developed CRPS after breaking my wrist at the start of covid.

I know a lot of people on hear have horror stores about physiotherapy but I have never found that and apart from *gently* working on strengthening your supporting muscles I can’t think of anything else you can do.

thanks, I also have been diagnosed with marked facet arthropathy in the lower lumbar spine, one thing after another, I do bodyweight exercises that the royal osteoporosis society sent me to do when you have had a fracture.

I can’t help but I’m sending you a big hug as I totally understand and can relate to one thing after another it just gets a bit much. I wish I could offer more advice but I just hope you can get the help you need from the doctors but maybe physio would be a good place to start to get a different perspective it’s just about finding a good one xx

thanks years ago I had a x-ray on my hip and they found some osteoarthritis, so it must be that ,

Oh no you have pain in your hips as well? Did you tell your doctor this? They could do another xray to see if it has progressed given it was years ago then they might be able to advise. After my mums cancer she has suffered terribly with joint pain and I searched on here on other pages not the bone ones and found people take tart cherry extract so my mum has been taking that every day and it does help not a miracle cure but it helps as she has calcification in her joints hips knees and shoulders but post the cancer treatment and the pills she has to take now for 5 years really make the joint pain worse so she has been taking those as she doesn’t want naproxen again as that gave her other side effects and raised her blood pressure but she doesn’t have osteoporosis like us so it might not be relevant just thought I would mention it. Take care x

it should be on my records that I had a bit of osteoarthritis, gp will know if he looks at my notes, I wander if my upcoming zoledronic acid will help or not.

It’s hard to know without having a DEXA scan but the nhs only do them every 2 years. I was going to pay for one privately if I was having the infusion this month but given everything else I have going on there is zero chance of me having the infusion for risk of side effects especially what I’m suffering with these patches and the terrors they have caused plus they give me all the bone pain to start with for a few weeks so I’m putting mine off till I’ve got my surgeries out the way and pain meds sorted as I’ve just had enough it the medical world!! I never found the infusion helped with pain so I don’t think it will help short term but it could help strengthen them longer term x

yeah, I asked the royal osteoporosis society nurse if it's worth me getting a private scan and she said no stick with the dexa scan.

The private scan is a DEXA scan I didn’t mean one of those weird crazy expensive ones others have mentioned on here. I have had a DEXA scan at my local Nuffield before and it’s just the same as my nhs one it just meant I could get it done without waiting two years so that’s why I did it I would only have a DEXA so I can compare it to all my other previous t scores xx if you look into it all private hospitals do DEXA scans but I have had mine at the Nuffield
