Does anyone know how the T score is calculated.
My scan
Lumbar Spine -1.9
Femoral Neck -2.2
Then there is
Mean L + R Femur
T Score -2.7
How did they get this figure?
Thanks

as no one has answered your question I hope this will help you although I’m not sure it is what you are actually looking for hss.edu/conditions_dxa-dexa....
This explains a bit more americanbonehealth.org/bone...
You might also have a z score - here’s a bit about them
T-scores are calculated from your bone density measurements, comparing those to average for a 30 year old. They estimate bone loss since peak bone density at around age 30. You should have BMD (bone mineral density) figures, which are the basis for t-score calculations. Mean L & R femur is the average t-score for your 2 hips, based on the average for total left hip and total right hip.
Hi Pussycatwillow,
You could ring and speak to a nurse on the helpline they can explain this to you. There is also a fact sheet that explains about DXA scans. strwebprdmedia.blob.core.wi...
