I have been referred to a lung specialist because when I go for my daily walk after about 100yds I get a bit out of breath, it's probably due to my severe osteoporosis, from what I have been reading probably a fracture pressing on my lungs, I get backache after doing everyday things, anyone here get a bit breathless.

shortness of breath
I have not felt breathlessness even when I had fractures all of my ribs on both sides in multiple places……if they suspect a fracture they should do a ct scan especially if you are having lung issues. I also have permanent holes all over my lungs due to a previous cavitating pneumonia yet I still never had any breathless issues with loads of rib fractures but I guess everyone is different but they should do a ct as that will show if there is anything wrong with your lungs as well.
There is also the possibility of age my mum is in her 70s and also gets breathless more due to age as she is very fit and healthy with no osteoporosis. I’m 37 and have never suffered with breathlessness except when I had the pneumonia but then I was very unwell so that’s a different story.
been reading about discs in spine compressed reducing lung capacity in severe osteoporosis.
I wouldn’t read too much into these things dr Google does always give the worst case scenario. Speak to your dr if you are worried. Sorry I can’t be more help I’m just recovering from ileostomy surgery so I am not that with it but I will always try to help if i can with personal experience but everyone is different
Don't mess with your heart, see your doctor to rule out any heart/cardio issues.
I have lost height, can feel that my rib cage is not where it's supposed to be, but I (thankfully) still don't have issues with breathlessness. (I have for a long time sometimes struggled to get a sufficiently deep breath, but I think that's more psychological than physical.) I'm sure (right, we have confidence in our medical professionals, don't we? hmm...) your doctors will steer you in the right direction, but as others have suggested, age just starts to get the better of us, too, after a point. Hate thinking that. 😞
Hi Radars
Sorry to read you are having problems with breathing.
I had and still have so issues with breathing, this was after OS related spinal damage. Lost over 5 inches in height I still cannot sing I say the words as musically as possible! Physio help me to developed some simple excersies to help re develop breath control. Nothing technical blowing out candles and trying to breath slightly deeper, but they really helped me. I'll post them if interested.
BUT - does sound (I say from a non medical person!) you need to sort seeing some one from the lung specialist team first, at least you doctor is taking this seriously. I hope you can get this sorted out quickly, good luck.

I get out of breath - or is it out of breath rather than trying to breathe away the pain? I have MDS which has caused anaemia and as a result, lack of oxygen getting around the body to where it's needed. When I've been standing too long in the kitchen (or anywhere else) I start panting until I can sit down. I don't know whether it's MDS that causes me to pant, as there's nothing wrong with my lungs, or whether it's what I've said before. How do you feel? Do you struggle to breathe under normal circumstances? Does your out of breathness predate your back injury? The answers to these questions may give you some clues.
it starts when I go for my daily walk after about 100yds I get a bit breathless but keep going, when I am sat down breathing is ok,it might get worse as time goes on.
I think I can now walk for more than 100 yards but I can find it challenging to keep up with younger members of the family. After accidents (causing the compression fractures) I have suddenly been classified as "frail" and remarks are made about "old age" really annoy me; if I hadn't slipped and fallen in the garden I would be just the same as I was the day before that happened and people wouldn't say I was old.
I'm not old unless I'm walking or doing chores. In my own eyes - not at all.
