Bone Balance
I tried it - I’ve taken two boxes. I can’t say whether or not it has helped.
I found it difficult to find out what is actually in it which puts me off a bit plus when I tried alendronic acid for four months a couple of years ago I had a lot of bone pain and I had similar feelings in my bones when taking BoneBalance - which is why I’d like to know exactly what is in it.
On the plus side it dissolves completely and has no taste to it at all and I’m contemplating trying again. I’ll be interested to see if other people have tried it and how they got on and whether they know what is in it.
Found this on their website: bonebalance™ contains just one ingredient - Bioactive Collagen Peptides®. It is 100% natural and has no additives and no known side-effects (bonebalance.co.uk/frequentl...
They said that but I’m still wondering where they get the collagen peptides from and what is involved in the production etc. I suppose it starts with (hopefully) grass fed animal bones boiled down - a bit like you would make bone broth.
I was just surprised that I got the same sort of feeling in my hip bone that I got when I tried alendronic acid - at that point I emailed BoneBalance and ask what was in them, the reply I got seemed a bit vague but I’m not sure what I was expecting to be told though.
I am following your post with interest. I also have tried to find out the ingredients and got nowhere so I started doing a bit of general research and found that Collagen Peptides come in two forms - Hydrolysed Collagen from marine sources:-
Hydrolysed Marine Collagen, which is also often referred to as type 1 collagen, is made of peptides that come from fish and their scales. When collagen is hydrolysed, it simply means that the proteins have been broken down in order to promote better absorption into the bloodstream. Marine Collagen is the most environmentally friendly type available as it is made from the parts of fish that are typically thrown away3.
And collagen derived from Beef - mainly from bones.
Having read a few research papers which claim that bone density can increase up to 5% in 6 months by taking collagen peptides I’ve decided to give it a go.
However, reading the nutritionist papers - they recommend taking with Vitamin C, Hyaluronic Acid, Zinc and Copper and 5,000 -10,000mg /day to be effective. That means that it would have to be taken in a powdered form to be able to get that amount of collagen.
My takeaways:- I’ll go for the Hydrolysed Collagen in powdered form from a company which lists their ingredients and with the added trace elements and eat my 2 prunes a day.
Thanks for your post.
