Has anyone tried topical magnesium instead of oral route?

Topical Magnesium
I use a magnesium oil sensitive spray. Makes skin a bit dry at times but magnesium pills did not agree with me.
I have being using topical magnesium for years and never had low magnesium, always good levels. I used to use a British brand, Better You, magnesium gel but I live in the Netherlands (since 2014) and once the UK exited the EU, the duty I have to pay is extortionate. So now I am trying new brands and also a magnesium oil spray, instead of a gel. As Kaarina says, you can get dry skin and some tingling.
~I use orally via cocoanut water/powder/topical cream & occasional foot soaks containing Epsom salts
I am prone to cramps @ night due to side effects of certain meds I take - I cover all bases to prevent my sleep being disturbed as light sleeper over & above being on cpap which disturbs my sleep anyway~
I love a nice warm bath with Better You magnesium flakes although any make will do and there are cheaper brands on Amazon. I’ve also used their magnesium spray - it can sting when you first start to use it and they do a nice body cream too. You can also make your own body oil theherbalacademy.com/homema...
Have used epsom salts in Bath, "Better you " spray oil and cream usually after exercise when I can't have magnesium orally as it's to close to having had calcium or simply because it relieves cramp pretty fast
What benefit has been proven for using magnesium or is it just marketing like so many supplements are? Why I’m wary I suppose. I did try it once in desperation but gave me gut rot. I find same with Ibuprofen but using gel helps as it doesn’t hit your stomach, so makes sense to use things topically if it helps and works.🤔
Magnesium is best absorbed via the skin. I've been putting epsom salts or magnesium flakes in my baths for years. Always have a good book to read and music I like to help the 30 to 40 minute soak. I'm lucky to have a big deep old fashioned bath. Not only does the body absorb the magnesium, it also pulls out toxins from our body when taken this way.
I also make my own magnesium oil. It's not really oil. It's simply magnesium flakes dissolved in not too hot filtered water, coolled, then put in a spray bottle. Much cheaper than the shop bought stuff and I know exactly what is in it. Lots of people demonstrate making it and it's use on you tube videos. Spray it on the body, when dry it feels a bit like dried sea water on the skin. Simply shower it off when convenient. I use it after a swim or sauna and between baths.
