Has anyone had Coricosteroid injections to L l4/5 and :5/S1Facet Joints.
I am hesitant to have them (although pain is significant, but intermittant -have advanced Scoliosis/Osteoporosis/OA/MS ) as I did some research and Prolia was one of the main medications mentioned with possible severe side effects of skin rashes and joint infection.
That was not mentioned when GP gave me the referral, although he has administered the injection at times ?

Thank yo for the warning. I don't know if it is a good idea to have the injections while on Prolia in case of a severe infection.
Unfortunately my post was clear as mud. I have been on Prolia since 2016 and had multiple issues with UTI, irritated bladder, skin infections, bone pain and peripheral, circulation issues Odema 1 leg ? But of course I have other medical conditions that it can be put down to. . I was so disappointed to find that you can't come off it safely when new research came out. I hesitated for a year before I started Prolia and was told my system was not building new bone. (had PINP blood and urine tests for anaylisis. Was prescribed Fosamax first but refused to take as can have reflux. Have to face the future on where you go from here.
Covid got in the way and caring for my Mum who is also on Prolia and now has moved into Aged Care in 2021.
I have intermittant pain in my left Lower lumbar joints and is degeneration and OA mostly from advanced Scoliosis but am 68 so so I believe if I hadn't been on Prolia I would have started other medication modalities to counter the Osteo porosis -family history. Such a good site to talk to other people going through similar issues and sharing. Very grateful to be able to access the site
I’m sorry for your issues. We are all different. I have Mets breast cancer. I had 12 shots of xgeva about 8 years ago. It’s destroyed my bones. Now I’m in wheel chair. Can’t walk, lower back and leg pain, dentists won’t work on me, have Trigeminal neuralgia, all from this drug xgeva which is prolia. It changes your bones FOREVER. I also have multiple bone cancer spots. Doing radiation. My doctor stopped xgeva abruptly with no explanation. I did my own research to learn about this poison. I wish you well.
I have no words other than to say that I want to give you a big hug and wish I could take your pain away. I also wish they would practice first do no harm. I had early breast cancer in 2008 and had 6 weeks of radiation and 2 years of Tamoxifen hormone treatment because the cancer was oestrogen positive. It was not supposed to affect bones as much as the others, so no treatment for bone density then. Prolia was probably not around at that time. If you ever need to reach out please do.I hope you have family around you to give you support. xx
