Alternatives to Alendronic Acid

I am new here and have recently been diagnosed with osteoporosis and was offered 'Alendronic Acid' but felt it was not right for me. My nutritionist recommended taking 'Bonebalance' which improves bone mineral density and I just wondered if anyone else had tried it and if it works? I would be grateful to know what others have tried as alternatives to Alendronic Acid.

laraline ,Better to avoid bisphosponates/alendronic acid. It disrupts the osteoblast-osteoclast cycle. Even though, you may see improvement in your DEXA score, bisphosponates are harmful in a longer run. Whey protein improves your DEXA score naturally.

Linacg ,Please go for unsweetened, non-GMO whey protein. You can add it to your milkshakes or coffee. Again, it works best if you have it along raw A2 unpasteurized milk.

Hi, being the obedient sort I took Alendronic acid as prescribed and had no ill effects : my boneDensity hasnt been tested- I also take Calci D. Professor Dasgupta said I could stop taking it when I got down to 5mg Prednisone, which I did. Good luck x

I have only one reply ; avoid it like the plague. Gave me 2 fractured femurs after taking it for 7 years. Walked for 2 years with broken leg before anyone realised the reason. Very painful and could have been avoided. Good luck.

Hi there. Many of us choose to be medication free. There is no miracle cure as it really is not a disease. We can avoid further side effects from more medication though. I'm not sure how, but if you can find my previous posts I have listed many things which I do. Best really to do your own research. List things which cause thinning of bones which apply to you ....and stop doing them eg. drinking fizzy drinks which are high in phosphoric acid. List things which contribute to healthy bones which you aren't doing enough of ...eg not eating greens.....and start doing them. xx

Borderline osteoporosis - Left Femur neck -2.4, lumbar spine -1.4 (I believe technically osteoporosis is a score of -2.5).

I have today found myself 'in the same boat' Laraline - I have been prescribed Alendronic Acid today (without an opportunity to discuss with doctor!) and like yourself, I am very wary about taking it. Have you got anything to add from 6 months ago? I'd be very interested to know as I am unsure what direction to go in.
